CG Broke the Social Contract with Conquest. It's Time OR Money, CG

What has it always been with hoarding/resource management games? You can spend a bunch of time and grind it out and keep decent pace with spenders, or you can spend and get ahead. Don't want to farm a node a bunch? Buy the marquis pack. Want to have a char at 7* before it's farmable? You can buy/use crystals. Whale hard and you can have the char to use for few months or so until others can farm them. Don't have time for the hundreds of battles per GAC? You can buy those rewards (iirc, or close enough anyway).

And then there's Conquest. Don't have time for hundreds and hundreds of extra battles, on top of all the other things (TW, TB, Raids, GC, GB's, regular farms, etc etc) to do in the game? Well, then you can...just not have chars/ships you will need for the new shiny. No time? Just spend money and get...quicker stamina regen and a disque or whatever the $40 pack gets you? Spend the $10 and get...a few extra shards? Spending surely would advance you far enough to red crate without spending all that screentime doing the same battles over and over, assuming you have the teams, right? But nah. There's nothing for someone with money but no time. This is outrageous. It's unfair! It's worse than sand imo. TakeMyMoney.gif

    But don't forget - you want this button to skip time. A lot of time. Conquest takes hours to play during 14 days. And a time is a costly multiplier.
    This $11 is a price for just being able to finish the race. Teleporting straight to finish from the beginning definitely should cost way-way more.

    You can buy to progress these, though. And pretty quickly. You can buy all the reqs for Malak and GAS, and you can usually buy their shards in Weekly Shipments. They’re also in the Raid store for decently cheap, along with Raid characters. Paying for Krayt teams can help with that.

    Third Sister is more true, but buying Inquisitors and characters to help with ROTE Operations can get you into a better guild.

    Conquest is pretty much just relicing whatever random characters you need for feats so you do slightly less battles. I agree there shouldn’t be a way to buy a Conquest Character before people have a chance to earn them, but paying to max out Conquest or just having packs release after the 3rd Conquest seems fair enough.

    GAS and Malak are some good counterpoints to OP's complaint. So, while being unable to purchase toons is not without precedent, I do recall the whales in my arena shard that hadn't hoarded GET1 being very upset with GAS and Malak XD

    For GAS/Malak, 30 Shards per week from Weekly Shipments + 30 Shards ish per week from Krayt is 3 weeks, without any GET. So no, not instant, which makes it a decent comparison, but it’s fast and getting faster. And GI was buyable when his event launched. (And I’d imagine plenty of guilds would accept people who are GI ready, if it’s taken this long for him to arrive.)

    And with those, buying requirements actually gets you the unit (or ready for them in the case of GI). Malak and GAS will need more investment to be useful, but you’ll have them. There isn’t any way to bypass the time sink that is Conquest. You can pay for the Pass, you can pay to relic Feat units, but you still have to grind through like anyone else. Time and money.

    But the thing is: GAS and Malak are ancient. So don't compare them *now* with latest conquest unit. Ancient conquest units are buyable either.
    Compare them when they were as new and shiny as the newest conquest unit. Were you able to buy them as easy back at 2019?

    And with GI you cannot buy him now. Even if you have all requirements and 3 credit cards you can't.

    Conquest units won't be non-buyable for the next half a year. They will appear in conquest store very-very soon after conquest ends. You just won't get this character ASAP.
    And they are not the only characters in the game that you cannot get just by pulling credit card right after they appear in game. For some you have to work, either with your guild - raid, tb (again, look at characters at their release, not at a discount after 5 years) or solo - conquest.
    And getting conquest units is much quicker then spending 2 years farming Ki-Adi-Mindi?

    And there is a way to bypass time spending on conquest: just buy this character after it appears in store for 600 crystals. Minimum time - maximum money:)
