Pirates, as a faction, are an interesting aspect of Star Wars that hasn’t yet been explored. It’s not a bad thing they’re being added, the problem is how they’re being used to paywall the new events and such.
I, for one, am very interested to see the characters added. Ithano has an awesome design, as do many others that have flown under the radar. Also, pirate clone trooper? That definitely sounds interesting.

I would add arguably newer characters have always been paywalled on release.
This new way of doing it gives us a lot more free shards and gear too, particularly if players can save and get one of the large packs.
Really this is end game content, and players who are early to mid game shouldn't be bothering about these characters at all. Particularly as its fairly easy to get a decent score (1.5m) with either older characters or even the new ones at low gear and stars (plenty of guides for this).
After all those of us who have reached the point where new characters are an immediate focus (albeit I'll be 3-4 months behind the whales) once had a time where new stuff wasn't obtainable for a year and we couldn't compete in the higher difficulty raids. Its just how the game works and you are either patient or you pay to accelerate your progress. Nothing has changed.
Just feel that some players on here don't realise the game is a marathon and the new shiny stuff just isn't for them yet, but one day it will be.
