Choosing between TB’s just made the 48 stars achievement unachievable
The target audience of this posting are for players that enjoying doing side quests in their video games. The ones that want every trophy. The ones that want everything the game has to offer. The completionist. If this is not you, please move along. This posting does not concern you.
I’ve had this discussion in the past about not being able to do the “The Frozen Empire” Achievement, the one where your guild needs to earn 48 stars in the Dark Side Hoth Territory Battle (DS Hoth TB). This is due to the fact that guilds that are powerful enough to do get 48 stars will collectively choose to do the Dark Side Geonosis Territory Battle (DS Geo TB) instead as it offers better rewards.
I will state this again. It is the best interest of a guild to do the DS Geo TB instead of doing the DS Hoth TB as the rewards are better.
I also just learned that the Geo TB is also taken over the Light Side (LS) Hoth Territory Battle. Everything I will say below the 48 Stars Achievement is also true for the 45 Stars Light Side Achievement, “The Frozen Rebellion”
Unlike my last posting on this subject, I will be offering possible solutions, more on this later.
Most achievements (and quests) are acquired by your individual own efforts, so whether a person wants to achieve them or not, is up to the individual. In the case of the 48 Star achievements, it is a group effort which requires a guild of approx. 49 other people to help out. You cannot acquire the 48 star achievement by your self.
I will state this yet again. It is the best interest of a guild to do the DS Geo TB instead of doing the DS Hoth TB as the rewards are better.
As of this moment, a guild can only do one of the two DS TBs, not both. The developers (devs) have stated that the reason for this is so the game does not become a larger time sink than it already is. I believe that this decision should be left to the people playing the game. How much additional time they want to spend should be up to the individual.
I suspect that another reason why the devs do not want guilds to do both TBs is that by doing both, the amount of rewards given out would increase. The devs would certainly want to control that.
Here is my proposal:
1. Keep the restrictions and rewards of the DS Geo TB as is.
2. Allow guilds to do both TBs however remove most, if not, all the rewards from the Hoth TB if the DS Geo TB is also being done. Perhaps only award credits and Imperial Probe Droid (IPD) shards.
3. (Optional) Allow the DS Hoth TB to be simmed with whatever restrictions the devs feel appropriate thus making it even less of a time sink.
This would allow guilds that want the 48 star achievement the opportunity to still acquire it. If the guild already has the achievement then there would be no real point in doing both DS TBs.
If you, as an individual, or collectively as a guild, do not want the achievement, or find the DS Hoth TB boring, it would be totally irrelevant to you. You would be doing the DS Geo TB. Why do you care if the guild next door wants to “waste” their time on the DS Hoth TB and get no rewards?
Another proposal would simply allow guilds to OCCASIONALLY do both DS TBs a few times a year (perhaps two to four) and let them enjoy the extra rewards as a bonus.
In summary, the point of all of this is and all I am saying is, give guilds a choice to do both TBs and at the same and an opportunity to get the achievement if they so choose. This is even more true to newer players who would never have a chance to acquire the achievement otherwise.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
EDIT: It was also brought to my attention that the third Fulcrum Prestigious quest is now also “impossible” to do. “Defeat Hoth Rebel Assault phase 6 Rogue One mission”, how can a player do this quest in the Geo TB? You cannot. You are once again being “forced” to make an impossible choice.
Yet another consequence that was brought to my attention is the fact that hunting Wampas for the Bounty Hunter quest has been severely curtailed. The DS Hoth TB provided 5 Wampas to kill. While they CAN be found elsewhere in the game, they are exceedingly rare. The Geo TB has made the Wampa functionally extinct.
PS. The title of my posting is a paraphrase of "Choosing between TB’s just made the Wampa extinct" started by ZaneMorell
