Clearly they think matchmaking is working as intended....

With tophats answers in the q&a it sounds pretty obvious that they feel the matchmaking is working as intended with the exception of the comment that they may be looking into players from being in different divisions matched up together. Tophat also mentioned the fact that GAC meant to be for players to use the entirety of their rosters even though it only factors in your top 60-80 toons and zetas and totally fails to factor in the exponential advantage g13 toons add to the base go number (220 gp I think is the difference between a g12/g13 toon). Failure to account for the significant power that one or more g13 toons on a roster provides the effected player is wildly inaccurate when matching with other players with less or no toons at g13. Raising the gp of g12 toons as was eluded to in the q/a does nothing to address problem with difference in overall toon power from a toon at g12 as compared to a g13 toon on the basis of a go number which doesn’t take into account that significant difference. Clearly there is something wrong with a matchmaking system that pairs someone with 2 full squads of meta g13 toons vs someone who maybe has a handful of g13 toons or none at all. Personally I have struggled in this ga, I would say about 60% of my matches have been working as intended (close but could go either way), the rest being grossly overmatched. Back to the point though, obviously the community feels pretty strongly about the legitimacy of the matchmaking for GAC.... not everyone feels this way but I would say there is a strong amount of players who feel that the matchmaking algorithm could be greatly improved upon..... nothing in the q/a made me feel like they think anything is wrong with it and for as many questions that they received on the subject they basically skirted the issue. It would have been nice to have received a bit more clarity on the subject as we move on to the next GAC. Anyway, rant over and prepare for incoming hate :)

You quoted me and explained why you think that GP isnt fair. But you didnt address my point. What is the business incentive for them to change it? If a guy with WAY less GP has that many g13 and you don't - whos fault is that?

I never said GP was unfair. If it wasn't clear, I'll make it clear now: using GP-only, in and of itself, using nothing else but that one big number, not weighing gear, mods, levels - is dumb. That's all I meant by that. For example: Are all 3 million GP rosters equal? No. That's not true. I'm also not saying - someone who is 400,000 GP higher than me makes my matchup unfair. No. I'm not saying that whatsoever.

Yes, you have to use GP in some way. How are the components of GP weighed in matchmaking? Specifically, for me: how is G13 weighed? Doesn't seem to me they're doing a good job with that.

There have to be dividing lines for people, correct? We don't lump in everyone with everyone, correct? The guy who started this calendar year is not going to be able to compete against the guy who started almost four years ago, correct? (Unless the newer guy is a whale/kraken.) The question is not how come I don't have enough G13 guys. Or - how come Player X who started in Jan. 2019 doesn't have a fully maxed Darth Revan squad. If that were the pertinent issue, then there would not need to be divisions or leagues, period.

The better question, and the ones that the devs have asked themselves: how do we ensure that players do not crush or get crushed?

I want close matches that make me think. This game is too brainless in too many areas, it's refreshing to have to work out strategy. If the devs are still working on this, fine. I understand this is still the trial phase.

I am not sure what the experience is for the players who got rolled at the beginning, but the league progression definitely leads to opponents with similar skill and rosters.

It doesn't work like that, in the first ga I was well beaten 0-3, in the 2nd ga I was beaten 1-2 (could have been 2-1 but i botched it) and this is when I thought it had evened itself out and i might be competitive but ga 3& 4 have both had me smashed 0-3.
    So no, it doesn't improve.

Seriously though, GP is extremely fair in light of the circumstances given that it is neutral. They simply have no business incentive to make it easier on people with or without certain toons. Nor would I. Nor would you if it were your business. GP is extremely fair and whatever the GP disparity between g12 - g13 is, its "blind." Sometimes that will benefit you and sometimes it won't. But if you get trounced by enough g13s maybe you will have some incentive to upgrade yourself. ;)

GP is about the dumbest way to match people. The devs know this, and it's clear that they've since moved away from using GP as a principle factor in matchmaking. The bottom half of most rosters are useless for GAC. In rare cases, the bottom 2/3rds are useless, and I have that latter example in my group of 8 right now. Two people have G13 characters: I have one. Another guy has five. Everyone else has zero. The GP of the guy who has five is 500,000-900,000 lower than everyone else. He is also the only one in a lower division. I predict he will finish first this go-around. Why? Because he's G12'd and zeta'd every meaningful character and left almost everyone else alone. (I say almost because he geared up some weirdos.)

I faced this guy first and almost beat him. Reason I didn't was because I made one really bad decision. That's on me, not EA/CG or anyone else. But (this is a very big but): he kept his G13 team for offense, not defense. I think that was stupid on his part. I could not beat that team if it had been on defense. No one in our group could. That's a big problem for matchmaking, which is exactly why Rando started this post. I hadn't run into it myself until now.

Having one guy in Division 4, with a significantly lower GP, and everyone else in Division 3 with a GP relatively close to one another, clearly shows you how much emphasis for GAC matchmaking is put on only a portion of characters, along with their gear and zetas. I don't know how mods come into play.

Now, on one hand, you can say - great for that lower division guy in my Group of 8, he's got a leaner roster and is being rewarded for it. Yes, you could say that. On the other hand, you could also say someone with 5 G13s should only be matched with a group that has a comparable number of G13s. As Rando stated at the very beginning of this thread: the leap from 12 to 13 is huge, but the matchmaking doesn't take this into account very well. Again, no one in our entire Group of 8 can wipe out a full team of G13 characters. Yet we find ourselves in that situation. Sorry, but that is just stupid.

One more thing - I don't think anyone who plays this game lacks the incentive to upgrade. The barrier for the highest levels is money.

There's a parallel to this in upper divisions, having a lean top 80 where the bottom of your top 80 having 10-20 g11s yields an advantage on parameters that matters more (as they leave room for more zeta gp for example). Ofc none of these players exactly developed their rosters this way to take advantage of it, it's due to blunt approach of slicing just one numbers totality and matchmaking based on that.

@ColonelTravis just as your bottom half of your roster trash, so is most other people's, you don't deserve to be facing guys with much less playing time than you just because of that. If you're missing A squads because you spend too many carbantis or whatever on useless characters then you made a mistake and you should have to face some consequences

I like how I explain to you my issue twice and it still doesn't register.
I'm not missing A squads. <---- see this?

My issue is G13 squads. Unless you think G13 = A squads, plural.

Just don't respond to Baldinghead. All he does is post deliberately stupid nonsense to try to make people angry.
