Never mention that as I go through the second full cycle stuck at level 55 it appears they have buffed the awful fights.
Waste of time and the significant reduction in Episode Shipment currency means I'll no longer be paying the $20 per cycle for that. Cool cool that I now have piles of useless Era currency that will simply expire.
This isn't true - I have reached tier 6 on all the bosses and even reached tier 7 on AT-ST and Tomb Guardians, and I haven't spent one cent on anything in Coliseum. If you're struggling to clear t5, it is likely a strategy / rng issue (since it can't be a modding issue). I have found all the tiers easier to clear with IG90 lead. Have you tried that? Also, make sure you check out the mechanics of the bosses. Lots of people are using STL's middle special against the AT-ST, which means you'll resist lots of debuffs so it will gain masses of TM and slaughter you. There's a workaorund with Chewy's second special.
I have actually really enjoyed Coliseum, since midway through IG90's era. What I don't like about it Coliseum that there is an absolute hard cap on how far you can take your Era units without spending, which is Level 70. When you reach t7, you get upgrade materials in the reward crates up to and including 40%, but everything after that is just Era Currency.
I think this should have been made clear from the start.

This 100%. I was using STL lead for the health/ prot buff, but IG makes it a breeze. I hit tier 7 of the Pirate AT-ST today and only used STL's middle ability to heal everyone as a last resort. I was able to level STL and IG-90 to 70, Chewie to 68 and Asajj to 67. I hit IG-90's payout for the first time using him as lead and holy crap what a difference.
Got two more attempts today, but i saw what was stated earlier. After 40% the rewards turn into really bad era currency to the tune of 25 or 40 tokens. It's almost like, what's the point. Rewards in this mode are just horrendous.
I wonder if the rewards will change with the release of Vader and Barriss? I haven't seen any posts in discord or here about the rewards cap at tier 7 / 40%. You're the first to bring that up, so thank you for the heads up.
It is possible to get the 60s as FTP. A purchase here and there helps as well, and i mean literally 2 or so, not 10 or 20. That said, it's hard capped at 70. You cannot pass 70 without paying. Period. At least to this point. The only place to get the mats to get past that is the era shop for cash.
It is entirely false that you have to spend anything at all to clear Tier 5 of Coliseum. If you want to stay entirely (or mostly) free to play than you have to get used to the progress being extremely slow. They want you to be frustrated so you’ll break down and spend but is absolutely not required.
If you have all 5 characters at Level 45 (and you should by this point), you should have all you need to clear Tier 5 by the end of the week after the Barriss Marquee event. If you are “behind schedule” you are either suffering a lack of currency (potentially not leveraging your daily quests and episode quests to the fullest) or are slowed by bad RNG on an occasion or two.
If you are completely stuck and cannot progress at all for days in a row, that is a skill issue and you need to review the mechanics of the fights and adjust your strategies accordingly. Many YouTubers are understandably frustrated with the game mode and so they just throw it on auto and thus are not sharing the strategy tips that do make a difference.
