How on earth do you do the bonus tier for the Finalizer?

I've been trying to complete the bonus tier for the Finalizer event, but no matter what I try I can't complete it. I got the Finalizer lsb but even with those relic 5 ships I can't seem to get more than halfway through. Are there any tips on how to get this thing done?
