I'll start by saying well said. You've managed to write off 50% of daily *active* player base as sheep. I can't even begin to comprehend the level of paranoia required to conjure up this sort of conspiracy theory. You are convinced of some sort of whale hierarchy that simply doesn't exist. I can say this with certainty, at least as it pertains to my shard and probably most others, based on the fact that anyone in my top 20 can beat anyone else (with the exceptions of obvious hard counters) on offense.
You've obviously run into these sorts of chats, considering your extensive knowledge of their inner workings. Despite having chatted with this group, which I can only assume consists of at least a few well-mannered individuals amongst twenty, you continue to believe that they are all scum.
I think you need to wind back a little, and take a moment to realize that the error in your ways likely stems from the fact that you are clearly not personable. You attack, maliciously. If you had the capacity to relate to your fellow players, you might have thought twice about creating a thread in the forums that depicts your peers as mindless thrall.
Now that you've at least entertained the idea that you might be the issue here, as opposed to twenty other human beings, you can form a reasonable conclusion based on the following information:
1) I have spent about $50 give or take, since I began playing this game. I continue to take 1st in both arenas daily without the use of collusion. This is despite the fact that we have our whales, who have huge rosters of viable toons.
2) I have only just recently joined up in a chat with a few other players in my shard, and I think the topics we discuss as a group might surprise you. We have never talked about targeting any specific individual as a group. We have never fought about payout times in the chat. In fact, the only thing we have discussed at length, is strategy. We help each other out. I received a link yesterday which another top 20 player felt would benefit my Resistance team. A team which he doesn't have any toons for. That's what people actually talk about in these rooms.
3) We do avoid attacking each other an hour before payout. Reason being is that none of us want to ruin the experience for others. Anyone from our shard can join the chat as long as they follow the rules (which are limited to the use of profanity or being just plain rude). We actually started this chat so that we would know who not to attack during our climb, because we know that sometimes people don't have half an hour to get back to 1st (work, school, etc.).
So, in an attempt to help your mind wrap itself around the bigger picture, I want to end on this note. These chats aren't designed to ruin your experience. They are designed to benefit the experience of those involved. If no one knows when your payout is, or if you are attacking people during their payout, how can you expect anyone to help you out? I don't attack players that are in my chat for the hour before their payout. There is absolutely no reason for me to do so unless we both receive our rewards at the same time. Instead, I go for players who I know don't have payout for some time, or who I can't communicate with since they arent in my group. It's that simple. Join your chat, or don't. Odds are, all they want to do is help each other out.
