Also, is Mark supposed to be interfacing/communicating with the community and did he replace crumb in that role/responsibility?

How is it a cop out?

1) It's not his job to interact with the community, that's Crumb's job.
2) People were terrible to Carrie.

Given those two points, why would Carrie's replacement have an incentive to say anything at all?

(regardless of what his style is)

The belief that the person who’s job it is to communicate and interact with the community, shouldn’t do that because of how people react/reacted to that is a fallacy, I think.

I also don’t think Carrie was very good at interacting with the community and that someone more adept at communication and representing the game would get far less push back and abuse.

Maybe not you, but I’ve definitely seen this excuse used a lot as to why they don’t or shouldn’t interact and inform the community more. It’s a cop out and should not stop them from doing what they promised and know is right.

I think Carrie spoke more like a player than anyone else who speaks for this game, which is a good thing IMHO.

Her words were taken out of context and misrepresented. That is not her fault.

She tried to walk that line of being both.

The main communications from CG should represent CG and why they do things and take feedback from the players.

The problem with the main community communications person trying to walk that line as player and employee, is that they are privy to many things and perspectives the avg player is not, which will cloud their own player perspective.

It’s better just to communicate what they’re doing when/if they can and why they’re doing it when/if they can.

Carrie showed a huge lack of professionalism in this regard and of course the result was a lot of people taking things out of context, you could see it coming a mile away.

I say keep it simple, like yesterday when crumb responded to several issues, it was pretty good and nipped a lot of speculation in the bud immediately. If we see more of that from him things will go much smoother, I believe this, I really do. It’ll never be perfect, but it can be a lot better.

Again, getting push back from the community is not an excuse to not do what your job is and what you’ve personally promised to do.

There will always be toxicity, but that is irrelevant to what crumb should be doing and what he promised he would be doing.

The community didn’t all of a sudden become toxic after crumb made that promise.

I also whole heartedly believe that some of the toxicity and complaints would be lowered by crumb simply doing what he so eloquently promised in 2018.

Think Carrie still pays this game? Wonder what her opinion would be? Whale harder??

New lightspeed bundle is complete trash. Very lackluster... I don't understand how they don't see that. I would buy it had a little more bang for buck..

What promise are they reneging on?

If it's the more communication promise, this game has more and more open communication than any mobile game I've come across, so this can't reasonably be another communication complaint.

Well your opinion differs from mine and you’re not following the discussion of this thread if you think I’m complaining.

It was said that the community is toxic, full of complaints. While that may be true, I also believe that could be reduced with an active community manager that engages the community.

When the update dropped the other day and some issues popped up, crumb was on it, posting in several threads, which I think actually stopped a lot of negativity right off the bat. I think it was awesome and how things should be handled. That was a super rare occasion though and hopefully it’s a sign of how he will be handling things from here on out.

I’m not the kind of player that needs that level of communication, I do just fine finding out information when I can and deal with not having information when I can’t.

I don’t come to the forums to complain, I understand drop rates, RNG, the nature of FTP games, etc..., but a lot of players don’t and come here and complain or let off steam or ask questions. It’s understandable and Star Wars fans are a little fanatic sometimes, always have been.

It’s very possible that I’m wrong and that crumb jumping in and putting out fires the other day wasn’t the way to go. I bet this community is more understanding than you think and a little more interaction from CG would go a long way to building a healthier relationship with the player base.
