Contraband Cargo reward structure does not make sense

Has CG ever explained the reward structure logic for Contraband Cargo's top two tiers? Why are ship shards excluded from the top tier, specifically?
As discussed in other threads it makes the penultimate tier more attractive to many players than the top tier, which is crazy. It's particularly nonsensical as they had something similar with Challenges a while back but corrected it to ensure that higher tiers always improved on the lower tiers' rewards. Also none of the other regular resource events have such an asymmetrical reward ladder.

  • I’ve been doing the highest tier with just ghost, phantom and Slave 1. Not easy by any stretch and takes a lot of RNG, but it’s worth it.

Don’t have any other cargo ships that can participate at the moment.

Kyno i can easily finish the highest Tier. But i do not have the Falcons at 7* yet. So in a way i am forced to underperform. This should not be the ethic of the Game.

How are you forced? The falcon is farmable elsewhere.

It seems like (based in part on your comments) that the event was designed so that you needed to max out the ships we are rewarded with in lower tiers to complete the top tier. But with HT, that's no longer the case, so now the event design no longer makes sense.

Like other players, I can easily beat the top CC tier without issue without having obtained either Falcon -- I haven't even unlocked Rey's and only have Lando's at 4 stars. Your suggestion is for us to complete the top tier and gamble (!) hundreds and hundreds of energy and tokens outside of this event to get the Falcon shards that lower tiers of this event guarantee -- like you folks aren't stretching our energy and tokens like crazy as it is, including on HT (do you see the irony?).

I am fine with choosing between working towards maxing ship abilities and working towards maxing out ship star levels -- par for the course outside of events -- but let's not pretend that having to make that choice is a nice "reward" (which is the term that the game uses) for being able to beat the toughest tier in an occasional event. I think it's bizarre.
  • I'd comment on this but seeing as it's the ONLY viable albeit quick and boring SHIP PVE content in the whole game right now besides the farming table which does not count........ we dont' want it being removed lol

When the reward structure is controversial, it means they messed up...

Have you met the forum? Everything is controversial.

While I don't disagree with the forum sentiment, historically there hasn't been an issue with determining which rewards are greater. The highest tier is always better. Everyone does the highest daily challenges because of this.

The higher tier in this event is also better. You get more of the materials that are hard to get elsewhere.

Players wanting to put the last tier on farm when they dont have all the ships that are rewarded at a lower stage doesnt mean that the higher stage is lacking. The rewards are higher.

I disagree. It is not clear that the rewards are better on the highest tier. You have to choose a chance at ship shards/shard currency, or more reinforce/ship omegas. For some the chance at lando shards may be a better reward. In other events where the top tier doesn't award shards the attempts are not shared so you don't actually jave to decide between mats or shards.

Choosing different rewards, doesnt make them better. I would rather have ship materials, that doesnt devalue the ship shards.

The real situation is, once you are "end game" for this event, meaning you have all the ships, are you going to do anything other than the last tier. No.

The tiers are designed to build up the players, until you reach a point, then you move on to the higher tier. Wanting to do the higher tier before you have fully developed doesnt mean the top tier is worse. It's meant for different levels of players

So, do you really think that someone will wait to have all those ships 7* before going to the next tier? Think like that doesn't make any sense because of most part of the ships you can take easily farming in other spots.
The event supposed to give us extra shards to exchange for shard shop "and" give us better rewards comparing with the previous tier, it's what? 2 omegas (max), 5 prestige, 5 reinforcement material, and 50k currency. Does this "minor" rewards justify cut off all the ship shards (max 10) at the last Tier? I don't think so.

If you say that we should receive like 15 omegas, 50 prestige, 50 reinforcement material, and 500k currency, I could agree, but no.

  • I think part of the OP's point is that most other event prize structures add on the final tier - not replace with something of arguably less value (if you still need some of the ships in question...or one). And he's right.

This is the only event I've had to look at what ship shards are given out on the lower tier and "decide" between other rewards and the shards. Most events just add rewards to the lower tiers.

This one is different - and hence, "doesn't make sense". At least given the structure of almost all other event prize structures.
