Reading all this and other comments elsewhere, the thought dawned why this isn't a problem in mmorpgs. Realtime raiding. One team goes in, wins or loses. If someone leaves, and is replaced, the person leaving does not receive a final reward. But given the battle by proxy system here it is highly exploitable. But short of dropping raids, they struggle to find a way to fix it. However I do not believe a 100% fix is possible though. It will be interesting to follow along.
They could come out and clearly state their stance on any number of items that most reasonable people consider exploits, then clearly state that if anyone is caught doing those things they will be banned. They have said for months that alt farming and guild hopping was not intended but they had no cojones to take out the "top" guilds..
