There's a large part of your problem. If you dont want to learn how mods work or just rely on the auto-mods, you're just making things harder on yourself

That's like competing in F1 without tires and complaining that all the other cars are faster than you. 

The character stats are the visible indicators of a mods performance. No you shouldn't ne able to get a decent score with auto-mods as they are not optimized and also you clearly are very new to the game, and really you should be on the older raids as they are more your level.
