For the Record I've heard Boba survived the Sarlaac pit, but I think that's silly too, for the same reason.
Yeah in the EU there was alot of crazy things that happened, but made for good story lines. Of course it is all non-canon but still some good stories.
Fett surviving being one of them. He went on to be the leader of Mandalor. Help save Han a couple of times, led the Mandalorins as "Peace Keepers" against the Jedi. They actually brought Palpatine back (as a clone) and Luke almost fell to the dark side under hime They took Lukes lost hand from ESB and created a dark jedi clone of him.
