While you can get all toons from scratch with somewhere around $300, the event won't be G7 difficulty this time, from what they have hinted. You are taking a risk now if you go all in for it, since you might end up needing G11+ even, in which case there is no time to farm gear, just to buy them from shipments for at least another 35-50k crystals.
I'd wait if I were you, at least until the event starts. If you wait a few more days, and the event won't require heavy gear, you'll have the toons for let's say $320-50 instead of 300. No big deal if you already reach that point. But if you start buying everything and you fall short on gear, you have just wasted money that could have been spent elsewhere.
