No way CG does it any other way. It's the only logical, proper business decision to keep the whales happy, playing, and spending.

I can't bring myself to shell out $80 for the 2x 50 shard bundles I need and also farm 5-10 shards a day per toon for the next 13 days to hit 7* because another meta will arrive around May 5th probably and it's really not fun anymore to try to keep up with the Jone$$$s'.

One of the best choices I made was to be F2P. As thankful as I am for the whales funding my gaming, I am not hurting without the latest. I got Jedi Revan second go around and it seems to have worked for me, got me back to between 50-100. But my game style doesn't really need crystals. I like the guild focused events more. I think they give the team building aspects, while the arena is more of the dark side of the game, that more or less encourages bullying.

^^^ This. I've called all this stuff bang on, with dates and requirements on like 5 straight major events now, usual like a month before things even start happening, right down to Carth on fleet. Trends and patterns make these things quite easy to predict. It was never going to be Malak as a Heroes Journey as he isn't big enough (and the leak showed 3 zetas so is one), it was never going to be Gamorrean super rework etc. Then Revan's team was obvious to anyone who assessed panic farm/profit and had played KOTOR.

You are nuts. You should have known it was highly, highly probable all the 2nd round of OR toons would be required for a Darth someone. And geedy EA slapping Carth on a 20 energy ship node should have been more or less confirmation. On my shard almost everyone in the top 50 has all the required toons at 6* or greater, and many of those are FTP.

I'll have all 7* prior to event start, and I have spent nothing other than arena winnings on this round of EA shenanigans.

How many refreshes did they buy every day? I have been farming since they became available, but I have not purchased a pack or refreshes and I am not going to have 3 characters ready at 7*, but I realize that is on me.

Been buying 2 x Refreshes on Carth and Juhanni each for a total of 24 sims a day or average of 8 shards a day ever since they were available for farming. They look to be on track to hit 7* by the 7th day of the event, or at most a few shipments to supplement.

Thanks. Maybe next time I will spend. Personally, I have been focusing on other areas.

It is f2p, but probably only for guys who rank in top 5 of both arenas. I am 1 in squad and 4 in fleet, so a 825+90 Crystal a day income is helpful.

I have spent only 800 crystals a day, 425 on Juhani and 375 on Carth, all refreshes, and am 77/100 Juhani and 81/100 Carth. I also am at 26/85 of Ebon Hawk.

But, in order to be where I am in my farming I needed those crystals from arena and I needed to have started/finished Canderous and Badstila before Juhani and Carth became farmable.

TL;DR: It is farmable if you get top spots in arenas and if you read the signs correctly.
