You're missing the point entirely. Previously Id see your LV and use a non-GL counter. Now I have to waste a GL on him, a GL Id use for another GL. It gets me holds, but from another team, LV is not the team I expect holds on.
Yeah, I very much doubt you could take on LV+Imperial Guard +9'th Sister + Thrawn + Maul all In R9 without another GL
Besides, there are numerous non-GL counters that steamroll R9 dark clones
Anyway, the resources that went into the underwhelming DarkSide Clones could have been invested much more better into something else. JMMW for example.
Bo Katan (Mandalore) could easily beat that LV squad you mentioned

As a LV enthusiast, the OG squad is SO inferior to the current one, that I had to keep them on offense to ensure a properly modded Fennic team with a decent DC or a BKM team doesn't steamroll them. The non-GL counters that steamroll R9 DSCTs are top-tier and expensive, and unless you're in the 1% of Kyber and have all the latest toons in your roster, it's a heavy price to pay in GAC. My one complaint is CX-2 AI sucks on not attacking the same target 3 times to inflict order 66 and the stealth mechanic Appo and Knightfall trooper has sucks due to its randomization.
