Developing for raids - still worth it?

Ever since the krayt dragon raid was introduced and completely changed the raid format I lost alot of interest in this portion of the game. Being limited to squads that dont have much viability in other areas and now that new raids will be constantly rotated every 8 or so months what is the point of developing the required teams if they simply become obsolete after a new raid comes around? It's hard enough to develop entire squads with all the high level salvage required and for what payout? Some currency players can use to buy salvage they need which still doesnt help when they dont earn enough currency to buy the stuff they need in the first place.

Only thing I would give you as wasted resources coming in for this raid and all the new ones coming is the omicron, man did I get burned with that one

Not me. Saved me so much time over the last few months. Also meant I only had to r8 4 characters instead of 5.
  • As to OP... it might be a bit of a waste to develop for Krayt now (outside of Hutt Cartel), but it definitely will not be a waste to do so for Endor and future raids. There will always be characters that are bad elsewhere and characters that are great elsewhere. Just focus on the great ones first.

    ^^^ This 100%

If you look at the Endor raid toons there’s a lot there that have great use across other game modes. If you focus on teams that are good across the board you won’t regret it. I know I won’t regret taking my tuskens to r3+ even once Krayt is gone.
  • Since when are Hutt Cartel, Mandalorians, and Old Republic worthless?

I guess next your going to tell me Rebels & Imperial Troopers are worthless so why level them up for the next raid.

I think everyone just latches on to Jawas, and to a lesser extent Tuskens. Sure, Jawas are terrible everywhere, including the raids they're featured in, but if you develop any of the other 5 teams you'll get great use out of them in other areas.
  • I feel like the general consensus has been that if your guild is close to the next box, upgrade enough teams to get to it - otherwise start working on teams for the next raid so you'll be in a better spot when it drops and get a better return on your investment. For my guild, we're just encouraging people to work on teams for the speeder bike raid - there's only so much progress to be made before Krayt reaches it's sell by date.

If CG continues to give us an early heads-up about what characters will be allowed in the next raid, I think that gives us a comfortable margin to work with and get more use out of the flavor-of-the-raid characters.

There is no need to level those up though. Most guilds will benefit the most if you level your Jabba with Hutt Cartel and then Maul with Mandos and Old Republic and then the rest not so much. Getting 5.3 million per member gets everyone the 265 million crate. I know that is asking a lot but everyone getting 2.7 million gets you the 130 million crate.
  • Running it twice a week, you probably have 40 more times to feel sorry for yourself. This is the game mode that gives the most gear and now you pick what you need. Relic up the squads for now.
We don’t know how the next raid is going to work, is it 5 squads of 5 still? Who knows it may be five runs of one toon. Half that list for the new raid, the veteran player had at r3 to r8 now. The other half are still being farmed and already know will be great at high levels so save relic materials when you are 50 shards away from 7-star.

Well, we know it's 3 characters at a time, not 5. But we don't know how many attempts we get.
