I am an 8.5 mil account in Chromium 2 with 5 GLs and have only faced 3 (you can fact check me on this to be sure - Ally Code: 479-293-684) accounts with less GP than me this calendar year. And they were 7 mil. So your solution simply does not work. If you really want better matchmaking, I would suggest making another tier (in addition to kyber, chromium, etc.) so that accounts can be more evenly distributed. The only thing your idea does is disincentives players to actually invest in their roster unless they want to get in aurodium or kyber. Which CG is never going to do.

But we're on a ladder. So, it doesn't really matter how big the leagues are, we're only matched to the nearest 7 players. For almost everybody, to people with the exact same amount of points.
Other than players that don't regularly play; the big issue for quirky match making is changing league. In my opinion this needs tweaking. For example, you can go to the top division in a league and continue to gain skill points taking you to somewhere near the middle of the next league up. However, you're gaining these points vs people in the league lower. Then when you go up a league, you squished up even further. This means you're in a division with the same skill points as players/rosters that end up much better than you. Then the exact opposite happens...........meaning you have the same skill points as players/rosters much worse than you. The top/bottom of leagues can be a total whirlpool due to once a season promotions/demotions with the seasonal squish.
