You know there was an idea a guild member thought of, which would entirely change the dynamics quite a bit as a step towards making things fair.
It's a two-fold idea but
- "Penalize" players who don't put in effort while rewarding those who do
As an example: If you don't submit an attempt on every team, you lose 50 points skill rating per team that was not attacked. 75 points for fleets
Lazy accounts in every tier would start dropping like flies eventually dropping to Carbonite and remaining there, while still allowing players too weak to beat such accounts to skill climb up just by virtue of trying their best
- Make a significant difference in skill rating changes with GP gaps starting at 1M difference
This one should be pure logic: If your opponent has 1M or more GP than you, even if you lose your skill rating does not decrease. Meanwhile the weaker account gains double the skill rating for winning, as well as for beating teams
Doing this would severely punish strong accounts for losing to weaker accounts (such as the hundreds you'll find in carbonite - chromium), and in my opinion very fairly award weaker players for beating opponents stronger than them even if they only manage to beat a single team.
I doubt anyone knows exactly how the skill rating changes are scored per battle, per win/loss etc but that should start making some accounts that put in minimal effort to rapidly drop, while rewarding players who are actively engaged in the event whether they win or lose. Obviously winning is good, yada yada, losing is bad yada yada, but if your not willing to change the match making at the very least you owe it to weed out the players who clearly don't care from literally everyone else regardless how big or small the accounts are.

What's wrong with penalizing players who give 0 effort? Notice, I didn't say you have to win the fight - just gotta put in the effort to try to win if you want to climb.
If you don't want to climb, why the heck would you care any way?
What's wrong is that you're forgetting about how the meta works.
Currently, there are 2 incredibly powerful, meta-defining datacrons active: DRey FDC and Hodacron.
If my opponent and I place both of these in the front line and I go into GAC to see I've been full cleared, I know I have to beat both dcrons to stand a chance of winning, so those are the first two defenses I tackle.
If I fail to beat those teams with the available counters, I know I already lost the match. It's a waste of my time to log attempts vs the other 6 teams in the front zones unless I reeeeeeeeally need that bit of credits that you get for each GAC team you beat, which I don't.
As for keeping the thread alive: I would normally agree with you, except for the fact that the model of these forums is abysmal, atrocious, awful, backwards, stupid, user-unfriendly, laggy, bad, horrendous, and it stinks. The old-school message board style that the OG forums had was perfectly fine and I hate that some corpo suits forced the SWGOH forums to merge into this irredeemably, irreversibly broken and counterintuitive website, because I'm 100% certain that's what happened.
The site lags harder than ancient dial-up. Visually, it's hard to tell if a post is a top-level comment or a reply. Seriously. I hate this website. I don't understand why I post here so much. This website is cursed.
Also, your ideas to "fix" GAC are fine by me if you keep them far away from Kyber, because Kyber works very well in the current state. A "difference" of 1mln GP isn't a difference where I am (K2, 13mln GP), it's nothing. It's a rounding error.
mykdapet Are you seriously, with a straight face, complaining about a 1.2mln GP difference when you're 12mln GP? This is not a real GP difference. This is a difference in how many R7s vs R5s you and your opponent have. Maybe a difference of one GL. It's a difference that can stem from how many relics you've applied to raid teams to qualify for higher difficulty tiers. It's laughable. We're talking about 10%. If someone with a 4mln account came here to whine about their opponent having 400k more GP, you would rightfully laugh them out of the room. Your post screams "skill issue".
