Did you really lock the points needed for just standard path progression behind the episode pass?
I can't even claim the point from challenges need to progress down the regular reward track unless i purchase the pass?, is it even possible to max out the regular rewards path without getting the points from challenges?
In all honesty (without sarcastic hyperbole above) I am giving it until end of year before deciding to keep playing or not. Reading the update and seeing the shard and pass gate-keeping, I’m leaning toward just dropping the game right now. Maybe a month will change that.
This is the exact approach about half of my guild is taking right now. CG is either actively trying to kill the game or they are trying to milk more from the player base that has stuck around through all of their terrible decisions.
Current players aren't sure how to think/feel about these changes, the level of complexity in this is going to push away new people trying to get into the game, and F2P individuals are already getting punished by them locking some elements of the "free path" behind obvious "give us money now" demands (see OP's screen grabs).
Not good enough, CG, especially after this **bleep** show of a year were all you've done is take rewards away repeatedly (Mother Talzin event, ABs "rotating", Raid rewards being brought lower and lower, etc.)
I would honestly put it at around 95% of our guild, mostly very active, over half in Kyber. Virtually none of our members want to spend another cent on the game after this.
Exactly the same, it's a big middle finger to the whole player base.
This is a disgusting cash grab. Probably time for me to quit the game. Omis got cut from 4 per week down to 1, “BUT FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE OF $20 A MONTH, YOU TOO CAN HAVE A CHANCE AT MORE OMIS THROUGH INCREASED TEDIUM”
Seems they dont actually want people to keep playing this game. I was considering the new LSBs, but now I am considering quitting altogether. This cash grab is too much for me to stomach. Literally ruined the game
It would seem that most of the new content is for paying customers only.
The character quest stops at 65 shards.
The Episode quest require premium pass.
Would it not have been better to allow everyone to do and complete all the quests, but have two claim buttons everywhere, one for free and one for premium? Perhaps with 10% of the rewards on the free and 90% on the premium?
That way, it would still be worthwhile to attempt the quests, rather than writing angry posts on the forum about content that is out of reach, staring in our face?
I actually like that idea with split rewards. Maybe not the division between the amount ftp gets compared to premium you're suggesting (I'd prefer something like 40-60) but, even if they used the division you mentioned it'd be more palpable because it doesn't look as if everything is locked behind a paywall
isn't that similar to conquest? You can get a pass or not and you move on the same track. You progress on the same track in the same way. it is just the rewards are different. Why set this up differently?
The difference is that the rewards from the Episode Pass are REPLACING the rewards from Galactic Challenge. So they're potentially removing rewards that were once free and are now possibly putting them behind a paywall. It's also the missions that are the issue. Yes, there's a paid track in the Episode just like conquest. But unlike conquest, there's also exclusive missions for the episode with there being like 9 paid missions for every 1 free one making it seem like 90% of this content is locked out to the ftp players.
Don't get me wrong. Part of this is also we don't know what all the free quests are or how easy/hard maxing out the Free path will be. They claimed it's possible without buying the pass. Until this Episode is over, that's unknown how viable it is.
For example, I doubt this would actually be a mission but, say one of the free missions was Defeat an Enemy with GL Kenobi. Technically speaking yes, this mission would be possible to complete without purchasing anything meaning what Meathead claimed is "accurate". But anyone who doesn't own JMK will be out of however many point completing his mission would be and might be enough to stop them from completing the pass because of it meaning they are now getting less rewards than they were with the old GC system
The whole layout is very confusing. I feel like it would have gone a long way to give everyone a free episode pass for the first time, kind of like a beta test, since they obviously did not do any testing. Then at least everyone is getting stuff for free while figuring it all out, and even if there is some frustration and anger with the system and layout, its lessened because everything you would be getting is a bonus freebie. Give us time to get used to it, and then start charging the next time around, when everyone knows what is what and isn't having to pay money and go in blind
According to the post about Episodes, there's enough free points provided during the Episode to max it out and that the other missions just make it easier and gives them more points towards the bonus crates at the end.
I'm not a fan of them locking them behind it either btw. Just in a wait and see approach at the moment
I will give it time, but right now I am very upset (keeping language clean for the mods). I did read through all the updates and I didnt really like it then either.
tbf getting Huyang to 7 stars can be done ftp how much of that is expected in their assumptions

It would be good to explain what is behind the pay wall and what isn't. Are episode quests behind a pay wall? Can you still get the free episode track completed if you don't do these? Maybe call these bonus or something so there is clear separation.
Are the character quests included towards the episode track? If so, that is a separate pay wall from the episode track pay wall.
Zero transparency. They're hoping people will blindly throw money at the app. Really, I'm considering quitting altogether, when just a day ago I was thinking about the JML pack. I can't even stomach logging in now, I genuinely start to feel bad inside at the loading screen. It's just become too much. There are SO MANY problems still unaddressed from earlier in the year, I am personally still missing crystals from a bug a month ago, and now they're paywalling a large portion of daily content.
Just be blunt, already (stop playing everyone for suckers) and just make it a subscription game. The people that don't want to spend (which will likely be most of them, at this point) will stop playing altogether, and everyone feels less frustration.
I don't know how it's determined, but EA was on a streak for years with "worst company in America" for years on the Consumerist list, and I'll nominate them for the award this year in a second.

I considered the $10 per month I spend on Conquest to be enough, but $20 for stuff we used to get free is insane..
this $20 Episode Pass should, at the very least, include the $10 Conquest pass!
I agree with the top comment: giving it a month or two, but seriously considering quitting, or joining a ‘semi-retired’ guild for basically inactive accounts..
Why the hell they do something stupid like this.... they can't tell me that they don't make enough money, only in my guild so many people buy crystals, LSB and other stuff and I think just like the most of the players that this is to much.... who has that awesome (braindead) idear to make this game dead?
What is the problem there with you guys ? Do you want to destroy the game ? The old system worked and please don't tell us that you need more money... CG kill the game step by step... I'm rly pissed about this... omi now lower then before, and if you think about it there are also kids playing this game, I don't think that they can pay this prices.... change it to hold the players... make it that everyone can get all points and don't need to pay for it only if they want the higher rewards and get it back with the omi on 4... happy 9 years on swgoh... let's kill the game.... great idear guys....
