All of the reinforcement slots are counted toward the fleet power total. So if you want to make a comparison between a fleet led by a 5* capital ship and a fleed led by a 7* capital ship (which has one more reinforcement slot than a 5* capital), you gotta knock about 35k-45k (roughly the power of a decent fighter ship) off of the 7* capital fleet's total in order to estimate how the ships would compare if you had an equal number of them.
So I have a rubbish G7 lvl 3 abilities Thrawn with no mods and a 5* Chimera with hardly any abilities (3,5,2,2,1 as you read across startingbwith the crew power). I beat a 380k+ power 7* Executrix team (I was at about 327k). I have lower geared pilots but what I think is a better team. Didn't lose a single ship.
Then took on a 6* Ackbar who is one of the strongest guys on my shard to take first place. Certainly no harder than normal and a comfortable win though not as overwhelming as the first.
Nobody got off their ultimate or more than 2 reinforcements. Too chicken to drop the power and paint a target on my back so switched back to Exec for holding over night.
If the 7* capital doesn't live long enough to call all of its reinforcements, that last 35k-45k power may as well not even exist for all intents & purposes in a battle against a lower starred capital -- it provides little more than the power of intimidation.- Never seen that last reinforcement. For now I think we can just see the fourth slot as a utility option on offense

I'd agree with that. Typically I get to only 2 reinfs and at most 3. Never callled in a 4th. There is benefit in having that option on offense though as Poe or Sarge's ships may be what you need to call in vs. a TFP for example, but don't want as a primary reinf. Also, stats from a 7* Cap Ship make a difference. My Exec picked up 5 speed going to 7*. Very noticeable difference.- Bhaalor71New SpectatorMy shard is now full of 7* Chimera's. I will not even unlock him this go around. So far I've had mixed results. I run Tarkin 6*; and some Chimera's I blast through with zero issues, others hand me my hiney on a platter.
- SennaWalesNew SpectatorI have a 5-star Chimaera. So far I've been finishing battles before any ultimates, be it my own or the opponent's. However, that's because I'm short 180 prestige, so it remains to be seen if it's still usable.

Confirms sorta what I am seeing... Chimaera does seem slightly better, in that the bad RNG seems to happen a bit more against him.
Pretty sure this is due to the CC/CD bonus with Empire ships, CC luck and AI targeting more than anything.
Similar would happen when tarkin vs tarkin for me, miss a few TL and the match could be lost.
At the end of the day Tarkin still has the countdown to doom which results in a win 90+% if you can last that long.- SennaWalesNew Spectator

It is a countdown that the Chimaera can delay, and it will be challenging to wait 6 turns. "Bhaalor;c-1306734" wrote:

He who's TFP dodges more... Wins.
Which the AI can't be manipulated more vs. the Human - human don't target TFP except with DV. Also, put TFP as out of stealth with Scimitar. AI won't do that typically either unless all other ships are badly damaged.- My 5-star Chimaera should see significant improvement when 2 things happen:
1. I get enough Presitge mats to max out Strategic Dominance to reduce the cooldown by 1 (should be done in 4 days).
2. I get my TIE Reaper to 4 stars to get it a little more survivable (should happen within a week with only 7 shards to go). Its Grim Voyage unique causes the enemy capital ship to lose 35% turn meter when you defeat an emeny.
With Strategic Dominance having 1 less of a cool down than Executrix's Imperial Assault and the loss of turn meter Executrix will suffer from defeated ships, my 5 star Chimaera should handle 7-star Execturix's pretty easily. - thrawns ultimate has a shorter cooldown than tarkins and will occur first even with the lower speed
