- I don't want them, but I knew they would happen because EA has exhausted gear, and now needs a new way for people to power up their characters, and more importantly, spend money.
- I'll say it again. If it's tuned per each toon then it's ok. But if each mod is just a flat boost then it will fail.
Here is an example, let's say it's just a flat boost to a stat. Rey and Vader can both get a flat 20% more damage. That doesn't seem fair. But if it's tuned per person like Rey gets only 5% more damage while Vader gets 30% more then that is what I'm ok with. - Mods are just the next wave of raid gear to stop us and limit us again unless we pay more money.
For me i just love using my heroes it's why i have so many of them. I like trying new teams all the time. Raid gear made that alot harder hence i have so many gear 8 heroes waiting in line for a raid item.
Mods will increase the line and are a bad idea to begin with especially since lots of heroes need balancing pre mods.
I am a large large spender..
https://swgoh.gg/u/mofojokers/ - A huge yes, new content is always good. New strategies and such. Will there be a huge gap between F2P and P2P? Yes but as a F2P i dont give a damn
- I have seen what things like this mods have done to games and it's not pretty.
- Nope! Having already played with this mechanic in other games, it just isn't fun. There's a right and wrong way to mods characters, and doing it the wrong way is expensive. I feel bad for the people that put early mods on their characters and have to pay to remove the mod when RNG (mods are several layers of RNG) happens to give them a higher tier. Strong characters get stronger while weaker characters have to keep up. Putting speed mods on your Darth Maul won't change anything since quick characters like Rey and Leia will also have speed mods. Maybe this game will have a different experience even though they work the same, but the devs haven't really boosted my confidence.
The silver lining is mods will make your characters better in raids, campaign, and events since you'll be fighting unmodded opponents that aren't balanced around fighting modded teams. Of course, future events may be based around teams with the best mods and even more of us will be left out. We don't know that, yet.
Especially after playing other certain mobile apps, I'm finding this game is becoming more and more demanding while not becoming more rewarding. - 310f1579f209395a10 years agoNew SpectatorAs I understand mods, they will be the next race. My biggest appeal for this game is building rosters and if focus has to shift towards mods to keep up, then I don't see me expanding my roster beyond what I already have. Plus, they just seem unnecessarily complicated. I'm sure with some practice it'll become second nature, but I just don't think it needs to be that complicated.
- So they are starting to hit the limits, 7 stars, level 8 abilities, gear 12 is almost within reach, level 80 almost unlocks everything for characters, but instead of breaking the old limits for the four power determining factors a fifth one is being added instead. Its like instead of building taller skyscrapers there are new little shops are being added instead, it gives something different a chance to be popular and expand, in my opinion this is a better way of releasing new combat factors to the game.
To be honest though I feel like some of the lesser used characters need to be reworked before adding anything new if boosting every character is going to have a fair effect... - I truly feel it's not time yet. Eventually? Sure. Will they be cool and add a dynamic to the game? Likely. Just at this moment in time, let me concentrate on leveling my roster before I have to level my levels, then level those levels.
I'd rather see something simpler like a new raid to play with. - I don't really care but as others have said, they need to be balanced against the base power of the hero. Depending on the stat. The "rey gets 5% increase offense max while Vader get 30%" example is a good one of what should happen. If they don't do that, then there will never be balance in the force.... I mean this game.
