Yeah I think I agree with all these alignment changes, especially Rey. There is literally no reason she should not be a Jedi. The end of the movie (and her ultimate) is her claiming to be all the Jedi, or at least the newest heir to the legacy. I’m not well versed enough in her kit to know exactly what that would change, but it makes more sense for her to a Jedi than UFU. 

One more change is that JKL should be a rebel. I don’t know why CG decided to not give him that tag, but even though he is a Jedi, he is still very much part of the rebellion in Episode 6. To me it just looks like CG likes to gate keep tags to keep players playing a handful of teams without the ability to mix and match, like they did with the new bad batch and not giving them the clone tag. 

Yes. Totally agree. The Dad Bod Boba really gets on my nerves. He tells Krrsantan that he isn't a BH anymore in his show. And even though he says he doesn't pledge his allegiance to anyone in Mando S2, he is still a Mando. If nit Mando than a Tusken. They could have really made tuskens relevant. IG12 and Grogu should be a UFU as well. Starkiller should be neutral. There are just so many mistakes.

From a fluff point of view, you might be right about Rey.  However, from a gaming point of view, I'd much rather keep her as an UFU.  I think the main idea was that the 2 OG GLs were the opposites when released.  A lightside and darkside UFU.

Agreed from a fluff point of view.  From a gaming point of view, would it make a difference?  I guess there are times where you're scratching around for an UFU for a Star Killer or Cere team.

Or....we could just get shot of the neutral tag?  Making these characters neutral would weaken them (I think).  Level 3 & 6 on datacrons don't work with neutrals.

Well why is Jabba a bounty hunter?  This is for gaming reasons.  Boba has usurped Jabba's position.  However, he never officially retired from bounty hunting....I guess and is the BH GOAT.  I don't think he should lose that tag for fluff reasons.

Agreed.  There's a clear dialogue in the Mandalorian where he proves he's Mandalorian (under that series fluff anyway).  So should the OG Boba be Mandalorian.

Well.................I find it hard to form an opinion here.   To be more specific.....I have an opinion, but it makes me hypocritical.

Let me explain.  I'm a big lover of Blood Bowl (warhammer sport game).  I've played it since a few years after it started.  It makes me angry when they make teams for 'gaming' reasons which over-ride or 'water down' the fluff.

However, here.......I feel CG are right in considering the gaming reasons over the fluff reasons.

Which means I understand your reasoning, but rather hypocritically, I agree with CG.  Some of your ideas would not be suited for gaming.

Hmm idk. Maybe changes that would swap or remove tags I can see people being upset about and disrupting balance changes. But I think adding tags like UFU on chirrut or Rebel on JKL would be received positively. I always like it when the community mix and matches weird characters that just happen to work together to make something cool happen. It may not make much of a difference in the meta, but it would still be cool to be able to experiment more with them.

Recently, especially with the new bad batch, it seems CG has a particular team in mind when making characters and then they make tags reflect that. It takes away from one of the best aspects of the game: the ability to mix and match teams up to create interesting synergies. Again, will it make a difference in the meta? Probably not. But it would definitely be cool to see some older characters get more tags, especially since they make sense lore-wise.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Additiionally, things like:

Dash doesn't count as a Rebel, but his ship The Outrider does? How does that make sense? Make him a Rebel and a merc. Sure he started as a merc. But he fought on Hoth and "sacrificed" himself to take down Skyhook.

Savage counts as Sith. Ok. But Ventress doesn't. They have the exact same claim to legitimacy.  Magnifying this, Ventress was required for the sith achievements in game. I don't think Ventress HAS to count, but if Savage counts, she should too?

Tags are for balance reasons. Jedi Knight Luke is not a rebel, but Lobot is? Don't make yourself dizzy trying to figure out all the inconsistencies-- they've been there for a long time. Devs have outright stated they have to look at balance when considering tags. 

Idk but “balance reasons” seems like kind of a cop out answer. Is it really game breaking to make JKL a rebel? Like are end game players really going to take him off the JML team and throw him in a Leia or some other kind of rebel line up? I don’t think so, because it’s not any better than him in a Jedi lineup. I mean Kix has a clone tag, but I don’t see anyone chomping at the bit to throw him on a clone team. All I’m saying is that it would be nice to be able to experiment and try different combos to see if they do end up producing results. 

And I know that’s just one example in a million, but it seems to me these tag decisions are made to take away player agency and get players to whale harder on the newer units. Take the new bad batch for example. There is absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be clones (except for Batcher), except for the fact that CG doesn’t want them to have synergy with the old bad batch. You have to use the Bad Batch v2 lineup without deviation from one unit to another if you want at least a semi-competent team. 

I can definitely believe some tag decisions are made to maintain balance, but a majority of them, in my opinion, are nonsensical and only serve to reinforce a team comp that CG has in mind, instead of what the player may have in mind.
