Feedback

I love Star Wars. I’m certain anyone reading this also loves Star Wars. When I first tried this game 2 years ago and I saw all the characters and gameplay, I was immediately addicted. I have continued to feed my addiction through all the ups and downs and despite all the reasons for any particular gripe you may see here on these forums, I had none. The game was growing and progressing organically and it was/is awesome.

I know you may think I am complaining with this post but please believe me, I’m not. I still believe this game is great and continue to log in multiple times, every day. I still willingly slog through the duldrum this game has become, out of love. It’s not the Sith raid, not the difficulty of the TB, and not the character release cadence that I consider the slog. No, the slog is the gear grind rotating around the MK 5 A/KT Stun gun prototype salvage. This single piece of gear is, at the same time, the most common need and most rare find.

I have a roster of around 80 toons and approximately 60 of them are stuck at a gear grind pinch point involving this same dreaded stun gun. In order to “buy” one of these rammon (rare+common) gear pieces, 2500 crystals are needed, making it the single most expensive piece of gear in the game. If I don’t want to spend 2500 crystals on one of them, I can farm it in all of four nodes, two of which have a daily limit of 5 attempts. Unfortunately, the drop rate on these nodes is abyssmal as is the possibility of getting them as a drop in a raid (I should know, I’ve completed hundreds of raids).

Therein lies the slog. I’m bored. Not because I can’t play, not because my toons are under-geared or underpowered, and not because you keep moving the lines of completion. No, it’s because I log in day after day, and day after day I look at the same goal, the same mundane task of farming the mk 5 stun gun. Over and over. I’m trapped in a cycle of repetition at this pinch point because the vast majority of my collection simply doesn’t get better without them. And despite my already finding a whole slew of them, I still need a lot more of them. You could even “guarantee” each attempt of finding one on those four nodes and would still be a massive, up-hill, slog because they just don’t show up often enough in the shops (once a week? really?)

So yeah, the game has become boring for me. When I look ahead, I see even more of these things in my future so, yeah, I’m not super motivated to continue the slog. That doesn’t mean I'm threatening to quit, calling you greedy or any other what have you but seriously, you created it this way and have done nothing to address it but talk. For months now. Obviously you want it this way and someone, somewhere made the decision to maintain the status quo. I respect that, it’s a business, and money is simply a means to an end.

Of course, I hope you understand there are a whole world of options for me to have fun, and I think you do. I think you understand that, in the same way you made a decision to create that pinch point slog, I make decisions on where I put my effort when I’m looking to have fun. Truly, I do not/will not want to quit this game, I have “invested” significant time and money into it but, you know, a fellow gets bored.

Again, please understand, I’m not threatening to quit, I’m pleading with you to end my boredom before I gradually wander away without intending to and end up forgetting how much fun I had with you to begin with.

Please.

The game is about resource management, how you get the gear you need all stems from that "simple principle".

The game is a grind and has honestly gotten better over time with more options to acquire gear and crystals (the second best source for gear).
  • Don't waste stun guns on useless characters. Focus on one or two characters or even a squad at a time and it'll be much better
  • Yeah, I’m not new. I’ve been here for longer than most of you and I’ve heard it all before.

I’m not looking for tips or discussion, I’m providing feedback.

Would it have made a difference if the required gear was more spread out? End of the day you'll still need the same amount of salvages whether you need a gun or a detonator for example. Obviously you acquire detonaters without actually farming them, but the same goes for guns. If toons required both equally often you'd just run out of both. Maybe it's more fun or less boring that way, i don't know.
The way it is now i atleast know what i can always buy if i've got the resource because i know i'll need it sooner rather than later.
Anyway, it doesn't really matter since it's highly unlikely that i'll change your mind about the gear farm. I must say though, lately i haven't been feeling the gear grind that much. I'm even farming multiple hard nodes instead of spending all my refreshes on gear. Goes to show that experiences differ alot. Maybe you're just "done with the game", it's bound to happen for me someday aswell.
PS. i don't love star wars, watched the movies because of the game, not the other way around. ;)
  • How about if not every single toon required it multiple times?

Or even have a toon that doesn’t require it at all!

Then what? you'd still have to farm the required gear, whether that's guns or something else.

Colonel Starck Eeth Koth, Ewok Elder, Ewok Scout, First Order Officer, Tusken Shaman, Poggle the Lesser, Grand Master Yoda, IG-88, Lobot, Luminara Unduli, Mace Windu, Nightsister Acolyte and
Talia. Sure you can get a team out of that lot. No stun guns required.

    Edit: added Starck

Is anyone else surprised by the number of decent toons listed here.... that honestly no that bad, and yeah I'm sure there are more but probably less useful. At least 5 of those are completely useful. I so very rarely look at gear information beyond the toon I'm putting it on.
  • Got it off reddit. Not sure if gear XII voided some of those, but compared it to swgoh.gg and it looks right. And apart from Ewok Elder (at gear X) and Starck none of them require cuffs either.
