I am not against more ship content coming to the game. However, I do agree with most people that lower geared accounts and others who do not have the right fleet make up will indeed get a gear income nerf due to this.
The gear crunch is already bad enough with CG having no intentions of making it easier, even though they stated long ago that it would be addressed and still hasn't and I highly doubt they ever will. Let's be honest here they really don't care much about what we say/think on the changes they make.
If you are going to make ships required for 7/10ths of the GC now you should increase their drop rates to 2 shards each like characters. Right now the only thing they are doing is decreasing the gear/mod slicing units that I'd say a good 60% of players will now get.
More ship content is great, the way it's been rolled out is not. We've been pleading and begging for a gear crunch fix for a longggggg time now and instead this decreases the gear players will get.
I truly hope CG takes notice of this and comes up with a work around for it.
