Release notes are not an acceptable place to inform people of a change to the expected way things work. Gear has always been interchangeable. It should state in game that it has changed. Not everyone can read the patch notes. For example, I don't allow my son to access this forum for various reasons. He could never read them outside of the game. Heck, even if he could I don't recall getting a notice in game when there are changes. Why require people to come here when they could provide a simple notice in game?
For the record, I knew about this before they released the gear because I do read this forum regularly, but I shouldn't have to just to get this information. It's lazy of CG.
