GA banners add up to mismatches
So some basic math on this current GA 5v5 with ships.... if you clear all character squads you get 270 banners for the zone. If you clear the single ship zone you can max 66 banners for the win + 155...

@Cykodrumzz you are definitely, without a doubt, correct about there being an advantage. Noticed this in the finals during the last GA involving ships...there does seem to be a very effective strategy in overcoming the advantage however. Place your strongest character squads and fleet on defense...leave just a couple viable offensive character squads and an offensive fleet that can take out the falcon.
Makes it very difficult for your opponent to overcome unless they can take out your fleet.
@Kyno it’s obviously biased towards characters and to reward those who invest more in characters than ships. Either CG should weight it correctly or get rid of ships entirely. Ships have been the red headed step child for far too long now
