GAC has a single successful playstyle for top ranks; why? Suggested tweaks
I'll preface this by saying I generally quite like the new matchmaking and scoring system and think there only needs to be a few changes to make it great. At the bottom of this post I'll include EXCITING AND THRILLING MATH (to support my suggestions) and additional comments on the current GAC meta.
From a match-making perspective, it appears g13 does not have a metric associated with it like zetas seem to have. As many others have also suggested, I strongly believe this needs to be included in the match-making algorithm, as the respective power of g13 vs g12 is often quite striking and not reflected in GP or the currently used algorithm. I will concede this is likely to fade over time, but for at least the next couple/few GACs I think it's required.
From a points perspective, the main issue is there seems to be a single strategy of doing two things; 1) save your highest-point scoring teams for offense and 2) put the other teams on defense. There seems to be no motivation to place one of your normally offensive teams on defense if it results in less points for you, leading to a single strategy of "max offense". I know there is still a lot of advantage to be creative in your defensive teams to maximize your roster, but at the end of the day the goal is still to be able to maximize your offensive points.
I believe there should be points given to defense in each match as well as a few defense-focused feats. From a points perspective, I believe they should mirror the offense points in two areas. The first area is unconquered zones on your map at the end of a match; you should receive +180 points for each zone that is not conquered (the same you get when you conquer it). The second is for successful defends; the first defend is +20 and the second is +10 (and as in offense, beyond garners no bonus points).
From a feats perspective, it's even simpler. The actual requirements for the feats themselves don't matter too much as long as they are focused on defense; X defends beyond the first, place a full team of separatists on defense, etc. The important part is giving another avenue for players to obtain championship points in addition to pure offense.

In the listed example, SELF one-shots all of ENEMY teams but not very efficiently - only 55 points each. In the current model, this would net him 1880 points. ENEMY is far more efficient (60 points on most teams, 62 on two of them) but against two teams he has to try a second time (and gets 40 points for each 2nd try). In the current model this would net him 1884 points and a win.
In the proposed model, SELF would benefit from bonus points due to two of his teams defending once and end up with 1900 points. ENEMY does not have any adjustment to points and would lose the round with 1884 points.
Summary: by adding points for your teams defending, you give players an alternative playstyle besides focusing on offense. If players make a choice to have stronger defensive teams they are given the ability to win matches even if their offensive teams aren't as strong. I believe this will lead to more interesting matches for players and more $$$ for CG.
I would love any and all comments and feedback!
