bad analogy, if someone with 3.6 mil gp is facing someone with 7 mil+ gp, I wouldn't say that 7mil gp person is Tyson, maybe more like Elmer Fudd and the 3.6 mil person is Bruce Lee.
A person with 7 mil doesn't get matched up against a 3 mil person if they are actually skilled. - tiffer723 years agoSeasoned Newcomer
But if they are not skilled yet 5m + and drop their top characters on def how does the 1.6m player manage to do anything?
is the reason these players are in Carbonite 3 because they just sign up? Doesn't that ruin it for the others? - ccmoose3 years agoRising Novice

Yes, that could ruin the fun for the smaller player. That is one of the valid complaints about the new system. Lack of participation by larger, casual accounts causes them to drop low enough that they can ruin the fun for active, smaller accounts--regardless of W/L outcome of that individual match. - I've seen two complaints about the new system that I consider valid.
First, folks with huge rosters that drop super far because they never try. When a small roster faces them, the small roster probably wins. But it's no fun because they only win by forfeit. That means less fun for the small roster in what should be the premier game mode.
Second, there are folks who sandbag to get easier wins. Not for more crystals (it likely results in less crystals if you check the math), but because they want their wins to be easy wins, they prefer beating up little guys. There are folks who do that, and that sucks. But not many. Bullies like that also have egos that make it hard for them to intentionally lose half their matches to weak opponents, which is necessary to pull off this scam.
My alt is under is 4.7m, started in bronzium and has climbed all the way to kyber. I'm still winning half my matches around the k3 k4 cutoff, despite every opponent having 1m-4m more gp and 1-4 more GLs. Rather than be upset about the matches, I take pride in the fact I worked up this far and I'm competitive with those bigger rosters. - Ryche1353 years agoRising Newcomer

Again. GP is meaning less. Look at swgoh GAC bracket for your matchup. The numbers for :
GLs
Relic Units
G12 Units
G11+ Units
Mods matter too:
6 Pip
Top 25
Top 500
25+ Speed
20+ Speed
15+ Speed
If you are facing a huge discrepency in GP, put all level 1 garbage toons on def and save everything for Offense. - dmgutie3 years agoNew Spectator

If the 1.6M GP player is any good, then they'll find a way. Here is my 1.4M account vs a 5.6M account:
Wanna know why he's in Carbonite? Because his mods are terrible and his team comps are terrible. If they weren't, he wouldn't be in Carbonite.
Interestingly, he actually went 2-1 that round. The other two players he faced saw his GP and just didn't bother playing. He did terrible on offense, but beat them both as they posted zeros. I actually attacked him though, and when he saw my score he just didn't bother. "DMG_SW;c-2356980" wrote:

Or he wanted to lose the last round, because that seems to be the way to go."Ryche;c-2356939" wrote:

Doesn't explain terrible mods"TVF;c-2357064" wrote:

Doesn't explain either, that the poster wanted to use his comment as an example that it is possible for smaller rosters to beat bigger rosters, yet he actually could not prove it. He didn't win because of the bad mods or because he played so good against his bigger opponent, he won because his opponent didn't show up.
Edit for clarity
