I can see few problems with this kind of approach, mainly being in low gp brackets, right after gp group is set, if one starts to whale it will be a year (or 6 month) of great advantage. Even for not so big spenders. or for someone quit the game for lets say, 2 months and decide to return, it would be absolute hellhole for them and this discourages any player to start again, which this game highly suffers for already.
I don’t agree. 1-2 season and whale advantage will face bigger opponents. We seen this already when skillrating was applied. 2nd season with new system and there was a lot of discussion about unfair matchmaking.
And now, people who hit 85 level will see on their first GAC a lot of half dead accounts with GLs and relics and nightmare will start every time when someone decide to play.
But 1-2 seasons and GAC will be balanced by skillrating and at the time when skilled player faced opponents GP-wall refresh will put them on GP starting point.
Let’s make it on simple example:
I start 2m GP and facing equal opponents
I win and face opponents 1m GP more then me
I have 2/1 winrate season and my opponents became 2m GP more or dead accounts
I grow my GP and successful with GAC -> face opponent twice stronger then me
And I’m stuck on 50/50 winrate in my real skill bracket (our current state)
Then comes refresh and with 3-4m GP I will start again but from higher position and with stronger roster. What will lead me to bigger results and give feelings of progression
