Try following the steps in this Android Troubleshooting guide to see if things get better.
Mainly, try clearing the cache of the app itself.
If you have the game on an external storage (SD card), try moving it to the internal storage and vice versa.
Try closing as many background applications as you can.
Other than that, you may want to contact your phone manufacturer's support to see if you have any other device-specific options!
