Well, I will start off by saying that a character’s in-game strength is not connected to their canon strength. So, don’t expect a Sith to win just because they would in the context of the general canon.
That being said, I’ve been playing since Nov. of 2015 and I can tell you that this game has been Rebel biased pretty much from the very beginning and just heavily LS biased in general. There was one brief moment for about 2 or 3 months when Zeta Vader and then Zeta Maul teams were Arena viable, and that’s it. They quickly corrected that mistake and then punished everyone shortly afterwards with LS TB, which made DS useless. With that minor exception, LS has been dominant pretty much the entire life of the game. Very early on, there were some hybrid teams, but they didn’t last too long. By LS, I mean Rebels. The other teams never really got that far off the ground, but Rebels get the best kits and are used for so much more than DS. And, when there’s the rare DS event, like Territory Battles, DS gets the difficulty ratcheted up to insane levels. People with G12 teams with Zetas have difficulty beating P1 of DS TB, while a Zeta Finn team at G7 or G8 can clean sweep P6 of LS TB.
So, if you want to play using DS, that’s your choice, but don’t ever expect it to do that well. CG never cared about the bias before, and doubtfully ever will. Not that they see it as a bias. I remember AhnaldT101 actually talked about brining up the LS and Rebel bias one time he talked to the developers, and most of them were surprised and didn’t understand what he was talking about. As far as they were concerned, there was no bias because at very low ranks, DS and LS are about even. You’ll have to accept continually lower Arena rankings or start using Rebels. If they ever do come out with a good DS character, expect there to be a Rebel counter in about a month or less. There will be no counters to Rebels, unless it’s another Rebel.
