You put this in Arena and PvP so I'm going to answer from an Arena and PvP standpoint and say that light and dark are totally irrelevant when squads can be mixed. Whatever balance or imbalance there may be, it only applies to things like territory battles or the light/dark tables in which you can't use mixed squads.
