Gear 10 vs Gear 11

It's not intentional on the devs part, different pieces of gear have different level requirements, and characters like Anakin and ST Han, lucked out by having their gear 11 pieces all level 80 or lower. Characters that are stuck at gear 10 simply require pieces that are above level 80. When the next level cap increase happens gear 10 characters will be gear 11.

The gear 11 characters however might not get to gear up when that happens, unless their gear 12 pieces are all level 90 pieces. That's not saying they won't get to equip new pieces of gear, its just I find it unlikely that all those pieces would be level 90, it's more likely a few of those pieces would be level 91+ and they won't get to gear up with the next level cap increase.

The developers developed this system where some characters can get to a higher gear level than others. It can only be described as intentional.

It could be seen as intentional, in that they have all the gear a character needs mapped out way ahead of time to better fulfill their roles, and they decide when to raise the level cap, and make that gear available. But they did not get together and plan for certain characters to reach gear 11 before others. It just kind of happened that certain characters could reach gear 11 because the gear they had planned out ahead of time was all level 80 or below.

Did you know back when the level cap was 60, that Jedi Consular was one of the best healers because he could reach gear 8 when the others couldn't. His higher stats from being able equip more pieces of gear than other characters made him a step above the rest.

Maybe this was an intentional way for the devs to implement a system that forces the meta to change without nerfs. Not that there hasn't been plenty of that too but I think it's a decent idea. Gives something to build for when the new cap gets here.

And when tenacity was low enough that his 0% potency could land most of his dots. 20 levels later and still 0% potency while everyone else has been getting tenacity increases. That said, now that everyone's tenacity has dropped a great deal, and Palpatine would grant him 32% potency, he could make a come back.

Heal block has always been a great debuff and his AoE with Palpatine's leadership would basically be a full heal while dealing some good damage and placing dots all over the enemy team. Mod him up for speed, crit chance, and potency, and he could real threat again.

Is the level cap going to get raised after 90? I've always thought that 90 was going to be the limit for some reason

This. And re-balancing. Remember when people were complaining that GS was OP - then the cap was raised to 80 and Omegas added. He's still solid, but now the meta has shifted.

Right now, many people are running STHan, Lando, JKA, Rex and QGJ - non-coincidentally, those are the heroes that can all hit G11 (except for Rex - he's the goods at any gear level). As such they are slightly more powerful than their G10 counterparts.

I'm sure the next cap will bring a shift again. That's kind of the point. It encourages meta-shifts. Which encourage new heroes, variety and, of course, more spending. ;)

Kinda hoping if they do they do it a couple of levels at a time. Think 82 should get us some new challenge tiers, maybe with omegas, higher creds and higher level training droids. Because if they follow the pattern, credits and droids needed to move after level 80 will be steeply priced on the curve.

I think before they raise the level cap they need to change the requirement gear levels. I also noticed that while leveling to 80 heroes like Geo soldier and Quigon got to higher gear levels way quicker as well.

Actually I think your right, the cap was meant to be level 90 if that website I came across was right. If that's the case; then ST Han, Anakin, and the others have a huge advantage. If level 90 will be the end cap, then gear 12 would be the final gear level, and those characters are already almost there.

That's worse than them being a gear level ahead right now, I would need 10 more pieces of gear for my Vader to hit gear 12. But ST Han would only need 4 pieces, which since it would be the final gear level, will most likely add some new endgame feature like a new ability that can only be acquired at gear 12.

I guess even after the level cap raise, ST Han and the others will continue to be a step ahead of everyone until the others can reach gear 12. And if getting gear 10 Vader gives any indication, it will be weeks of farming to get him to gear 12, and months to get my whole team to gear 12.
