Gear Crunch Discussion

I have no idea what it used to be like as I've only been playing 8 months now.

But I can say it took 3 months to get the account to L85, another 3 months to get a single character to G12, and 2 months after that before I got G13 & Relic 5

I can also say that after 8 months of playing, I am constantly broke in Credits, Fleet Credits, & Purple mats in addition to the obvious FleetPurples/Omega/Zeta/G8+ crunch.

I also frequently have to go back & farm G1-7 items because someone at CG thinks its really cool to keep using L1+ Gear in combines for L10+ Gear.

Basically I've gone from thinking wow, what a cool SW game, to, WTH am I doing spending several hours a day playing this stupid game, & just quitting to go ride a bike in the nice weather.

So you know, take from that what you will about my feelings towards the gear crunch. Its basically painful to log in every day and almost zero fun.

Its not really a game, its shard collecting for months on end till you accomplish 1 thing, if your lucky, and don't destroy your phone in a rage throw into the wall.
Its about as fun as doing your taxes, every day of your life, while standing barefoot on broken glass.

Perhaps I'm being overly dramatic in my description........ then again....... I'm not so sure.

Then you are playing wrong. While I'm not certain how long it should take to reach level 85 these days, the other lengths of time are absurd. I'm curious if you're all over the map in regards to what you should be doing to progress efficiently in the game.

With that said, not trying to be too critical, but you're probably the type of player CG has in mind in giving direction to with this new Journey Guide.

Last time CG said they would help with the gear crunch they introduced the kyro gear.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe Austin is somewhere in the right direction regarding your situation? I completely agree about the farming gear, maybe it's just the diff characters have easier to farm gear or something? Cause some are for sure way easier to hear up... Haha. I think Thrawn's event was last month? Im pretty sure, and I can't believe it I already have him G12 about to be G13 tomorrow or Sunday the latest. Same it seems with my JKA. I got him to G12 real fast too.. I got my Thrawn to G12 not even a week ago yet and he'll be at G13 prolly tomorrow! I can't believe it lol. Idk how that happened soo fast, like I said it must be that just some guys are much easier to farm for.

They claim to ease the gear crunch but they introduce kyrotech and gear 13...
And there's the occasional new character that needs all the pieces we already lack.

I mean they have to make money but saying they ease the gear crunch is dishonest.

Honestly just add Eyeballs, Stun Guns, Stun Cuffs, Callers, Furnaces, etc. to the GW Store. It only has to be 1-2 for like 600. New players can focus on characters, older players can focus on these pieces. It would only be an extra piece a month basically, but it'd go a long way to easing things and actually let us spend the currency on specific gear without hoping for RNG in the shard shop store.

Did you forget that they eased the gear crunch by introducing flash events?

They just need to add this gear or make events to earn that gear. It would be enough to make the gear available like before they reduced all the possibilities! In the past you got plenty of those stuff eben in the rancor raid...but now it’s gone...the question is why? It is obvious that they just want our money, but to be honest...they do not really need it. It is just mammonism...for comparison reasons...I can buy a great game for pc and ps4 or whatever for 50 dollar and that’s it....and these games are by far more complicate to produce...and you can play forever....and here they sell 50-100 shards for the same price....I mean this is for nearly nothing...they capitalize the addiction of kids and week people...this is close to a crime...and they should think about that...some lawyers are maybe in position...like for tobacco or medicine or automobiles....I hope that to be honest...there is a border line and cg reached this I think...maybe more than that...

From the number of posts,i can assume you are a rly old player and have some resources at hand,i reached the 1 year mark previous month and its as the op is saying.Even if you focus one toon at a time,it takes ages to make him g12 with the 1/15 attempts at gear i am getting thats way below 20% anyone is claiming,especially on kyros.I never got more than 2 from 10 or 15 attempts.

Cool samples. You can see people's collective samples instead of made up numbers for something you didn't bother tracking.

I think you’re comparing apples to oranges. 2 years ago from March is roughly when I started this game. At that point g11 was the max gear level. Since then, we’ve added g12, g13, and relics. So if you’re saying the time it takes to gear a character from g1 to g11 is much faster now than almost 3 years ago, I would agree with you.

However, it is more difficult now than it was last year at this time to get a character from g1 to g12 (without sacrificing in other areas of the game). The addition of kyros and g12 finishers has split energy spending from old bottleneck gear like stun guns. In addition, that old bottleneck gear was removed from fleet nodes. And g12 is only the beginning of relevance for most characters. So if you’re saying it’s easier now to get a character from g1 to g13 or relic 7 than it was to go from g1 to g11 in March 2017, then I’d have to disagree.
