Gear levels

Question

Luke, Leia, STHan, and Old Ben are all gear 8. R2 is gear 9. I never even tried the CLS event in the past because I didn't have Old Ben leveled up. I will be able to have at least one of Luke, Leia, or STHan at gear 9. Is gear 9 necessary? Who should I focus that gear on first?

How are your mods? Maybe g9 luke and st han?

I've heard that at g8 with mods is possible, but RNG will demand multiple attempts. I'd do leia first for overall usefulness, but I've heard prioritize Han.

Note- I'll be doing the event for the first time soon so this is not first hand experience.
