I get what the OP is saying, but I think that it's a matter of deciding what's more important to you--getting new stuff (Negotiator, Wat Tambor, g13, etc) and some old stuff, or getting old stuff a lot faster.
Personally I think the new rewards are worth the reduction in old rewards. The new stuff is just that good.
