Grand Arena: no
As I, and no doubt countless other people mentioned weeks ago, basing matches on GP is a set-up for failure. I have an opponent now, I have the same teams, but one 'small' problem: all his/her team...

We haven't even had one full GA yet. I'm sure they will obviously continue to tweak the match-making formula over time. Also, with the normal GA, if you lose in the 1st match, you'll be paired with someone in the 2nd match who lost also....everyone can't win every match, someone has to lose. I had someone in the first exhibition who had more G12 characters than me but I had more G11 and G10 characters so they had better teams at the very top end of the roster but didn't have enough depth to beat me. People are making all sorts of broad generalizations about this game mode based on a couple of exhibition matches. There is a solution though if you don't like GA.....don't play GA, don't join the GAs.....crisis averted.
The matchmaking doesn’t need to be “tweaked.” They need to go back to the drawing board. This form of matchmaking would be like seeding the NCAA tournament according to the schools’ respective athletic budgets: there’s probably some correlation between that and team quality, but there are obviously better ways to do it, like, I dunno, looking at the teams’ records and strength of competition.
Looking at additional parameters (zeta count, number of G12s, meta characters) would only be a stopgap. The values of all those investments will change over time as new characters are released and new strategies emerge. And when they do, the matchmaking will have to be “tweaked” again.
Is it really fair to that 3mil gp player with 25 g12s to match up with another 3mil 25 g12 person while 2 other 3 mil players with 5 g12s matchup with each other? Seems like you're punishing the 2 top heavy players just as much with that matchup as you are punishing the more balanced rosters with the current matching.
