I took a couple of years hiatus but I remember guilds being somewhat active back then and this was when the Rancor raid had first come out. I came back late last year and their are so many new guild raids and like you said are auto complete move on, with the exception of TW, there is not much communication (inter guild). Nothing that really forces guilds to work together.
Any guild that wants to be halfway competitive has a dedicated discord server where plenty of chatting goes on. You must be hanging out in low-level guilds.
