Then - Situational:
Anakin, reaction strike under boba lead. - There's something else in the equation than toon base stats, excluding situation and boosts. I figured that out in week 2 when Rey was hitting like a Mack truck filled with lead and had lower stats than half the other toons.

Vader with a ton of debuffs can hit for a ton as well, Wedge with his Defense Down can hit for 50k - I don't understand the special damage in the stats of swgoh.gg. Nacolyte, Lobot and Ugnaught are in the top ten. But it does not rely the reality where a GS or a Rey can hit really harder.

Special damage is used for special damage attack.
Lobot does not use special damage attacks even though he has one of the highest special damage stats in the game.
NS Acoltyte, Ugnaught only use them on the special ability.
EP for example only deals special damage.
Lando, wedge, biggs, Rey all use physical damage only.
You have to read the ability descriptions
It will say Deal Physical Damage or deal special damage to figure out which one it is going to use.
The final damage is:
Special/Physical Damage stat * ability modifier
Ability modifiers make big difference
Example (all numbers are umodded maxed character numbers from swgoh.gg):
NS acolyte Special ability (uses special damage):
4241 * 1.181 = 5008 Damage before Resistance mitigation
Rey Basic (uses physical damage):
2422 * 2.210 = 5352 damage before armor mitigation
