Heroes Journey should reward the journeys of Holotable Heroes

TL;DR : All would benefit from yearly Heroes Journey involving a reward for Holotable Heroes commensurate with the length of their journey with the game.

@CG_Carrie @CG_SBCrumb,

I imagine that the Heroes Journey event is one that the SWGOH team would really like the community to look forward to and receive well. Certainly the effort put in supports that assumption. Unfortunately (as reflected in other threads), the community has recognized the current structure does not support achievement without an exceptional expenditure. Of course, this is disappointing.

I suspect this disappointment is most poignantly felt by the large portion of the community who has been with swgoh for YEARS. The Heroes Journey characters are arguably the most lobbied for and have historically been among the most impactful. Consider the following modified Heroes Journey launch protocol which could recognize the community, reward the SWGOH team efforts, continually rejuvenate the player base, and support business goals.

Upon launch of a Heroes Journey event, players a credited shards of required heroes in accordance with their join date.

  • 2015 - 6* worth of shards for each required character
  • 2016 - 5* worth of shards for each required character
  • 2017 - 4* worth of shards for each required character
  • 2018 - 3* worth of shards for each required character

For the 2019 Heroes Journey event 2015 players would received 7* worth, 2016 6* worth, etc....

This *vesting* into the game rewards the player base for their journey by giving them access to success in the biggest event of the year. The enthusiasm and excitement would likely exceed anything thus far seen in the game. Spending would also be supported (consider the large 2016 player base! given SWGOH's contribution of shards to the Heroes Journey effort, I suspect the $-->50 shard packs would be a very popular purchase). Finally, it would be a reason for players who stepped away from the game to rejoin! Currently there are large headwinds against this competitively, but with the ability to gain Revan (or, next year...possibly Jedi Luke), they would be able to contribute to guilds immediately and have a reason to return. These events would be something the community looked forward to with great anticipation as they *vested* to the next level.

This is a structure that wins all around and supports a vibrant game and community.

Please please consider doing this and swiftly.
  • If I understand you, you are saying if someone has been with the game since 2015 he would receive 230 shards (enough to make a char 6*) for every toon that is required?

Sooooo peole who have been there the longer would receive a benefit that would make them event more powerful and those who were late would get screwed...

So make those already power even more powerful without any work and make those that are already lagging behind... lag even more...

I think i'ts not quite a good idea...

I get what you are looking for, but I think it's not a good way.

All the stronger players already have 3 times more zeta tokens than me, now you want them to get the Legendary character almost for free. (because they get 3 for each TW where I get only 1 and they have completed all ships in the fleet store so they buy zeta token which I cant do since I need to finish more 7* ships)

I think they need a way to make younger lv 85 players stronger and slow down those who are already ahead... because, as it been seen in other mmo games, this makes a toxic player base.

I think its already a problem with the biggest guild... they wont take anyone thats not high enough or that dont have this and that team G12 and such... Big guilds are already progressing much faster than smaller guilds... this would just compound the problem.

    Anyway thats my humble opinion.

So this method benefits the longest active playing people... who, if they are active, probably already have a deep diverse roster? This is a terrible idea... think it through
