Home one event!!!

Almost all my guys are gear lvl VIII except U-Wing because I just got it. If I meet lvl and star requirements and recommendations I should be able to at least come close to beating Tier IV, not get my face handed to me every time. They do too much damage and I don’t do enough, especially if they have at least three reinforcements. I bet when I beat Tier IV I’ll be immediately able to beat Tier V and my point is that it shouldn’t be that way. The gear required should match up with the Star requirement in a way that makes sense as you go. I will try boosting ABILITIES because they seem to add a lot of battle power, but I’ve never experienced a flat out brick wall in ships before and this is very disappointing considering how long it took to farm Jyn Erso to even be able to attempt this. My Home One level is a little lower than the recommended 75. Should I focus on that? Maybe don’t bring out my worthless reinforcements in Wedge and Uwing and get more damage from the capital ship in?
