It makes perfect sense on both counts. It says he has a 25% chance each critical hit.

That means each hit, there's a 1/4 chance Ani gains offense up, calculated independently.

The calculation for five crits is thus 1-(3/4)^5 = 76.27%

It would be the same answer in your 7th grade math class.
