Yeah I was this dumb too. I thought they may have made Luke OP by mistake. ( They went the other way ie there is NO WAY you should spend on this ) Instead we have Vampire Luke who is trying to suck all of the cash out of our pockets. If all of the marquees do the same thing its FTP for all. Only the whales need G10 anyway they can compete amongst themselves. This is just an RNG auto fest. 

if everyone can get to 4 star and level 65 FTP by the end of this era in three months, then there's no reason to spend anything on it.  Especially for this dumb daily attack once rubbish.

So what if I have to spend time getting them all to 7*.  We already have over 300 characters that we don't use half of, other than platoons in TB.

I think many game developers dont realise that blatant monetization has the opposite of the desired effect. We all know that this game has been made to make money. thats obvious for all games with a paid content. But when designing a game mode it has to be fun first. This drives people to engage in the content, which in turn motivates them to spend $$.

When you blatantly monetize something, and put the gameplay element 2nd (or even 3rd!), players say fk this and stop spending. When people like egnards, scrybe and other high profile content creators, who have engaged and 'invested' in the game for years, suddenly back off from the spending you know you're in trouble. These people are representitive of the wider community and its perception of the game, but more than that they influence this wider community. Something needs to be rectified or this game isnt going to make it another 10 years. This is exactly what happened with Lord of the RIngs Rise to war. Blatant cash grab update, which resulted in lower income, not higher. Closed 2 years later. You also do your own brand no favours either for when you come to develop the next game.

The main issues are there is just no way to level StRomtrooper Luke, GG made that typo gonna meme it forever now, in any meaningful way.  Spend cash, spend crystals and for what?  Stage 2 slam fest because you hit your daily cap and are now doing 1 point damage.  360-560 dollars to level Lukie StRomtrroper to 65.  Not even 70 and I read “metric ton of crystals”, pretty sure that’s over 2k and did not even get enough shards to 7* Lukie boy.  That’s a pretty lame lay-away scheme on CGs part.  

invest in Luke now so he’s somebody big in your 3v3 with Han and Leia. Relive the epic Death Star escape with the trio.  Just don’t do in in our new Era.  Luke’s gonna team up with Sgt Rebel Slaughter, Hot Goth Gurl, Emo Tatto Face, and Jim Henson with Kermit.  They’re Wookies, Mando, Jedi, Sith, Wannbes, they’re the team you call when the Cosby Kids screw up the neighborhood. Fat Albert stuck in a door frame, Goth Gurl can force push him. 

I’m not mad at the toon selection.  I think they’re original and bring something to the game.  I’m mad that I can’t level a toon without spending $500 plus and use 1/2 my crystals to star him.  $28.99 no problem, same as other marquees for 30 shards and trash. Happy to pay it, but I don’t see the effects of my purchase until Lukie Luke joins the Legends and becomes crabby old man Luke.  And that part is TRASH!

then when I do get to level Lukie boi, he suckie  suckie in the Coliseum, your flagship toon is taken out in 2 hits for no reason other than blue milk ran out.  What the hell is wrong with CG?  Is the bad manager back at CG working interns for pennies?  Not only does your flagship Toon under perform in his own era, he sucks against all 4 bosses of said era and we F2P can’t even partake of his era challenge cause we’re all stuck at 16 or lower right now.  Horrible design, poor comms, no comms, bad testing, alienated your player base, alienated your influencers, pissed of some krakens and whales and dolphins.   I don’t mind spending money on Light Speed Bundles.  Those have been a boon and are amazing value.  It’s all the 10 year Annvy items that are really bad.  

isolation is bad.  The colossus of Rhodes blocking my arena table to the right of me and the fat as tribute by Comedus to Marcus Aurelius on the left of me block my table I need to get glowing glow cubes for my GLs.  Honestly, if the 10th Annvy stuff went away leaving relic 10 and a slimmer relic delta, I’d keep spending and playing on the game.  But this hot mess is Duck Soup.  No thanks.
