I Have An Odd Question For Y'all...

have you read the novelisation of the movies yet (I don't know how good those are but they are the first things that come to my mind)

Look, as an aspiring author myself I would love to talk to you about this on private channels, but the game forum is not the best place to ask about reading choices. Like I said, if you want to DM me, I would be happy to, just maybe not on the main channels

Hi! As a fellow author myself I understand the grind! For writing star wars content, I think the best place to start is by watching episodes 1-4 (the prequels and the first movie in the original trilogy). Understanding the films and the feelings they evoke in you as you watch them is more important than any specific dialogue or event. Replicating the 'feeling' that the movies give you should be your #1 goal. It's why movies like Rouge One made a splash whereas The Rise of Skywalker didn't. It's not about the lightsabers or the blasters, it's what you walk out of the experience feeling.

Once you finish those movies (or all the movies, up to you), I would read these two books: 1.) "Master and Apprentice" by Claudia Gray, then 2.) "Tarkin" novel by James Luceno. I think those two books are the most well-written and give a great understanding into the inner workings of the jedi/republic, and additionally the rise of the empire for both those with power, as well as those without. 

additionally, if you're looking for examples of great dialogue to use in this universe, ignore the books and go watch Andor and game of thrones. I know they are shows, but you can put that sort of gritty dialogue into your story and reallllly take someone into your world. 

I hope your novels use paragraphs better than your forum posts - that’s my advice. 

To all of you who have responded thus far... thank you!  GreenSunRedMoon, I had not yet considered reading the book format of the movies... that is a great suggestion, and I am putting it on my list of things to read.  OutrunWhistle2, I understand your hesitation.  Unfortunately, this is the one place I can talk with strangers online... 😕.  Some day, we might be able to talk... however, until I am allowed more options, I am limited to this.  Rouge_Albert, I shall certainly read or watch movie I-IV of Star Wars... studying how to connect with readers/ the audience is a good suggestion.  I will also add "Master And Apprentice" as well as "Tarkin" to my list of books to read... thank you!  I will also re-watch Andor as time permits to get into the skill of writing good dialog.  As for you, DarjeloSalas... you are not wrong, I could use some work on cutting my words down.  Everyone in the world, no matter how good a writer or speaker, has struggled with saying too little or too much... as you have observed, I tend to be long-winded.  However, I will say that there is a difference between writing novels and writing forums posts.  With novels, scenes shift and action occurs... paragraphs are used to break the text up into readable portions for the audience.  Preferably, the chunks are divided in such a way as to flow with the changes in action.  In a forums post... well, there isn't much but the one idea you are trying to get across.  I don't see a reason to break my posts into smaller chunks... however, that is just a style preference.
