Is GW getting insanely difficult for any other lvl 80-85s?

I have been level 85 for a few months, and I feel there should be more levels added to game or SOMETHING. Because for months I have barely bothered trying in Galactic Campaign due to the outrageous teams I must vanquish to get through the final 4 battles, which contain half of the war gems of the entire campaign. The same problem as was in tournaments, there is a huge range of lvl 80-85s. You have those people with gear 8-10 characters, only a few decent teams, and strong but not top notch characters. However, just because you are level 85, you must battle your way through several max gear/legendary mods/7 star zeta special characters that you may not even have been able to unlock yet. I just made over 20 attempts to beat a team containing a 271 speed Thrawn of 7 stars. Why should I have to fight a maxed out Chaze team when I only unlocked a 3 star Baze this month? And I haven't gotten a single GK shard yet (out guild is getting closer), but I have had to fight GK's who have more health than every attacker/support in my Rebel team combined. Because of the great range of strength between levels 80-85, unless you are at the very top, it is excruciatingly hard to do things that were far easier when you were half as strong. GK Bariss zeta combos for example. I have no GK, and my Baze is 3 stars. Yet I fight teams such as Chaze GK Bariss and Nihilus all 7 stars and zeta, and of those, the only one I have at 7 star is Bariss. Since max GK and Baze can have easily 50-60k+ health, every time my Rebels score a critical hit they regain 20% of their bloody health, meaning that sometimes they actually get more health from me attacking them than I deal in damage! My best team is almost useless in GW towards the end. I might be on the second to last purple battle, sacrificing every single dark side character I have just to keep GK from healing 12k+ HP every single time he receives damage. And it's not like you can target lower health heroes. Because GK will taunt as soon as you score a critical hit. So please, find a way to allow lvl 85s without 7 star elite characters, gear 12, +40k protection or +140 speed mods, and zeta everything to be able to at least compete in GW. I almost quit the game because I was so sick of tournaments and GW. You pulled tourneys. Please allow lower strength lvl 85s to fight equal strength 85s.

  • @KyJoe_Cool haha, thanks bro. Funny part is I beat GW with the same 6 toons daily, I don't have a broken Node 12, and they're all F2P farmable except R2 for his legendary cycle.

@Kithryn although keeping focus on 1-2 toons seems like it's not a solution (it is) but most of these posts expressing an issue with GW/Arena typical revolves around 2 issues. Lack of modding because everyone is continuing to farm toons they can't gear from the cantina and/or they're trying to gear multiple meta teams at once, instead of finishing 1-2 toons (or a legitimate arena team) at a time. Overtime they lose focus and have actually farmed the majority of the gear they need to make G11 (this is essential for any game mode, soon G12) but they've dispersed it on 10+ toons. Eventually, they fall way behind because they're lacking strategy in their farming. I have witnessed this in multiple guilds when players struggle and complain about HAAT/AAT damage, when I see them have 50 toons at 7* and maybe 2 of them at G11, maybe 5 G10 and 1,247,291 at G7-9 and that isn't getting them anywhere. I still farm characters, but I gear 1-2 at a time, then I move on until the necessary raid gear shows it's lovely self and I have soooooo many choices of who to take to the next level. Wasting resources doesn't get you anywhere fast.
  • @Zephyrus I totally agree. I'm a F2P and I've beat the entire GW a few times with only 5 characters. And I know for a fact that lately for the same reasons that you've mentioned I've defeated it more regularly. What I do is I put characters I'd like to focus on in the favorite filter. That way I don't forget or simply that I can just see the toons I want to focus on without having to go thru an Easter egg hunt every time I want to see them so I don't have to find where they are and what each of those characters need. In the past I've definitely gotten overwhelmed with trying to do too many things at once and that wastes time in the long run. The only thing is in order to defeat a GW campaign successfully you need multiple squads sometimes and that is a reality. So for me focusing on as little characters as possible that I can is a great blueprint. Less is MORE at the end of the day! P.S. One time I posted 35 straight GW battles defeated for the guild GW battle activity. Trying for 36! So wish me luck! Lol ;)
  • @Kithryn I understand this game revolves around collection characters BUT it doesn't say you need every character to be able to defeat the GW. Heck, I don't even have every character. Lol. But you can't gear up every toon or the first toon you tap on or the easiest character you have to gear, to gear lvl 7-8 and expect to be able to defeat the ENTIRE GW. In the past I've been a victim of that so trust me, I know. You have to strategically gear characters and work on synergy... something I just recently in the past few months have been doing. Before i had a "first come, first serve" gearing mentality. But @Zephyrus is right. When you do that you waste so much resources (gear, credits, crystals, and not to mention TIME...) that you actually end up LOSING ground and still can't take a whack at the GW. One tip I thought of is if you focus on the squads you need for the character events (rebels/palp, Jedi/Yoda, empire/r2, Phoenix/Thrawn, scoundrels/credit heist) then you'll certainly be able to defeat the entire GW. I didn't pay attention to the Phoenix characters when they first came out but now I realize my mistake because they're actually in fact really good characters. Also, if they lowered the difficulty of the GW compared to the toons you have/have left then it wouldn't be a true GW. It would be a modified GW geared to accommodate your best available. One of my fellow level 85 guild mates (I'm level 85 and I've been playing since the Nov 2016 shard and he's been playing since the Nov 2015 shard when the game first came out) told me a really wise truth... Stars don't do too much to affect the character. At most it gives the toon a bit more health. Gear gives the character multiple extra stats which are necessary and not to mention protection. Gear is what you need to be able to move up as a player especially in the arena. Basically, it doesn't matter if you have every toon or if every toon you have is a gear level 7-8 or if every toon you have is a 7* character. Gear is what makes the character great (along with mods of course) so you need to focus on getting particular characters geared up and leaving others on the bench until they either (A) get a new faction pass/rework or (B) you have so much resources that your resources are by far and I mean FAR more than the characters you have. Saving gear for certain characters is a must. You can't just dish out gear randomly and cross your fingers that you did the right thing. That won't work. So @Zephyrus 's "Two character" blueprint is definitely a good one to follow. That's all I'm saying. I hope you do better in GW. Good luck! ;)
  • @KyJoe_Cool well said, and good luck!

I can go through with 5, but I prefer 6. Node 1 I used Wiggs, Z2, Zoba, and STH. STH is the last in speed so I hit my AoEs and drop the first node, leaving sth at 90%+ TM. This is my 'back up toon' as having a readily available taunt and TM push is a savior if necessary against Devil Nodes.

Node 2-11 I use Lando for his AoEs, and I bring STH back for Node 12 and initiate my turn steals to dismantle my enemy efficiently.

I lost maybe 1 out of 100 with this strategy

Edit:. There are times multiple teams is a necessity. Like the day I had 5 Zaul teams lol, I still beat my table, but barely, and I mean barely lol
  • @Zephyrus and @Kithryn
However! (I know. I'm long-winded! Lol) Stars are necessary for guild raids. That's really the only other thing they're good for. Especially when you're doing haat or normal aat. Or when you're doing any tier of the pit. So @Kithryn All you need to do is match up the toons that are higher star and will do certain things better or have synergy along with gearing THOSE certain characters up as you'll need them. Either now or later in the game or maybe BOTH if you do it strategically. They are YOUR meta's. They're not mine and they're not @Zephyrus 's. They're yours. Maybe we all have similar inventories and maybe we don't. What matters is what feels like works for you.

    Thank you!

Yeah I have "backup toons" as well. (And cause it was mentioned by @Tyrael earlier in the thread... Darth Nihilus IS IN FACT F2P. I unlocked him... yes, FOR FREE!...when the Lord of Hunger event came out. So @Killbot5000 would be correct. Anyway...) Darth Nihilus is one of them. Instant annihilate... hee hee! Lol. Sshhh!!!

My strategy is literally what I said before. Phoenix, Jedi, Empire, and then lastly Rebels. With a few misc. teams in along the way like a scoundrel Lando lead team with Boba and Nihilus. Cause sometimes on the later nodes (as you mentioned, the evil nodes... lol) you use 5 toons to take out 1 character sadly (And that "5 toons to defeat 1 character, maybe the Leader" was mentioned before by @Membrane...) and hopefully it is the Leader.

Wow 99% GW campaign defeat % is incredible! I lately beat pretty much every one I face. Almost the same percentage as you. Pretty similar. Lol

Yah. Multiple teams need to be on hand at ALL TIMES. Wow that many Zaul? Ouch! Lol. I hate the Darth Sidious and Vader teams. It makes beating Ct Fives look like hitting a home run at a little league field! Lol

Nice Talking with ya @Zephyrus ! Are u in a guild currently? I'm split on staying/leaving my current one... (sad thing is... I'm the Leader! Lol)

I'm level 85, and I can walk GALACTIC war with any of 5 different teams from start to finish.
I don't have any characters above level 78, and only a few with 5 stars. Gear level 9 max.

I think that GALACTIC war is personally way too easy. A Sith team with a Nilus lead can walk through on auto battle. I guess i just luck out, based on what other people say.

Part luck maybe, but also I have heard it is somewhat based on squad power or arena performance. The people I fight tend towards max gear and zeta, so my GW picks teams like that for the final 4 battles
  • Does someone know what gear Baze needs at like tier 9 and 10 so I can save them up? I am going to try a Wiggs Chaze team with either Jyn R2 or Bariss (whenever I can get her zeta) as 5th person
