I’ve actually seen this with online poker sites years ago. If you were running certain 3rd party software on your computer the poker site could detect it and block you from playing.
There is some fundamental difference here. Poker is an information game. Colluding in a poker game is inherently bad because by definition the colluding players are exchanging information not revealed to other players.
SWGOH is not an information game. Players "colluding" in an out-of-game chat do not inherently gain any advantage over others, in the sense that it doesn't make it any easier to win a battle. The only benefit they get is coordination among themselves so that nobody gets sniped unnecessarily, which I for one think nothing unethical. Now, there are people who gang up and bully other non-participant players. That is bad, but it is not a problem inherent to shard chat. Banning shard chat would be an overkill for that problem (not that CG could do that even if it wanted to)
Even been to a shard chat chaining? While chats won't bother for it most of the time, by coordination match transitions, they can practically lock you from 1 to 20 without you ever getting a chance to interject. Thus -information transfer.
that's very different information. it has no effect on winning, whereas in poker knowing the cards of a friend or two makes a massive difference, to keep the analogy going
