Is moff Gideon a good 5th to unlock R2D2?

I want to get to CLS, I have palpatine, thrawn, Tarkin?, Vader and I need a fifth. I’m willing to get rid of tarkin if needed. This doesn’t have to be my permanent empire squad, but I need teams that can get me R2-D2 reasonably quickly. Preferably something that is not a hard node farm. I hear people suggest Mara jade, but she’s a hard node farm and people are saying she doesn’t need to be 7 stars. The character that tags along will need to be farmed to 7 stars for a 7 star r2d2. Royal guard is also a hard node farm as well. My thought is maybe Moff Gideon, but Gideon is an imperial trooper and there wouldn’t be any other imperial troopers with him. Is he still worth using in that team? Or would a toon like tie fighter pilot be an ok pick? (That one has a ship so it wouldn’t be that useless to build up). Is CLS even the best thing to build after this empire team? Or should I swing over to build geos & start trying to build a padme team? Opinions?

    It's been so long since I did that event I really had to think about it a minute - TFP would probably be the better option since you need him for his ship and he's a requirement for Executor (though that's probably a ways off for you) - he's also important for your Executrix fleet (Tarkin) - Might as well get him out of the way. Gideon is a fantastic character in his own right but isn't strictly necessary for anything that I can think of.

    As for who to go for next - that really depends on what your goals are and what your guild needs. It sounds like if you're in a guild with other people that are in a similar place in the game as you are, you're probably doing LS Hoth right now for TB - if that's the case, CLS would be my recommendation, then Chewy, then Padme.

    The R2 event isn't particularly difficult, so really any Empire will work, especially with EP and Thrawn there.
