The idea that a salvage piece that people once had thousands of has become such a big gear crunch for so many players is ridiculous. Has CG ever answered a question about them specifically in any Q&A...

The other strategy is to focus the black eyeballs on the 12.5 pieces that require them, and then let the gold eyeballs build up over time through the only good challenge left.
They don't build up fast enough. That's the whole point.
I'm well aware of this. My gold count is at 203. Which at a cost of 60 per is just shy of 4. I have 100 of the black. Those are currently earmarked for Shark Tea and Sith Murderer. But by focusing on the 12.5 pieces, I have almost a 2:1 surplus of gold eyeballs. I might have that up to 3:1 by the time I'm ready to move characters past G11, where the gold parts are still in play.
