CG did answer us.
People kept posting “remove challenge gear from raid rewards”, so they did.
I'm sorry, but that's not why they removed them. They have a member of the development team who's responsible for balancing the in-game economy. They might have been the (false) reason given - the actual reason is "gated progression".
People have posted a lot of things en masse, and CG has ignored them. This was not miraculously one of the few times CG has listened to the player base.
regardless, does not change the fact that we all got screwed
Agreed. My point was simply that CG didn't act on players' request.
I don't know if you remember the forum topics rampant at that time but CG acted on playerbases request for "removing challenge gear from raids". They were obviously aware removal of this specific was one for their benefit and at expense of us. I made numerous topic along with other people that were also aware which was pushed into vagueness by "I have thousands of it" folks so they happily slipped the nerf with the overall change.
Here's the announcement. https://forums.galaxy-of-heroes.starwars.ea.com/discussion/179143/upcoming-sith-raid-changes
Correct. My point all along has been that CG's action on this matter was not altruistic. Perhaps they cited some of those with undeveloped rosters complaining about "challenge gear" - but intentionally ignored those players further along that were voicing the need for golden eyeballs to remain (I also was one voicing that concern).
I realize CG said that they were doing so because they were "listening" - but the next time CG does something that is beneficial to the players without it helping the bottom line, will be the first. Anyone that thinks CG didn't know they were tightening the gear crunch when they made the change (regardless as to whatever "reason" CG gave), is hopelessly naive.
To me it means that they listen AND implement the expressed desire in a way that benefits them. Same with relics, people were complaining having 10ks of useless gear. The way relics are implemented the people that had more piles of those gear gets no benefit out of it since in terms of relic upgrades even a much newer player won't get bottlenecked until r4. After that point everything is bottlenecked and the piles are no use. +data farming adds even one more layer of invisible gear.
Either case, if people put up a more unified front at the time of yellow ball removal, there might have been a slight chance to revert their decision. That ship has long sailed.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter all that much what's bottlenecked and gated, cg will have to introduce new ones as soon as we start catching up and only the name of the thing we need will change.
*I'm not contesting what you are saying, we are just putting the nature of it into words differently.
