The conversion only happens at the beginning of the battle, its not happening constantly, that is why that buff doesn't interact with his health.
then why can't he gain protection up after the fact then? By all intensive purposes he should be able to by that logic.
I'm with you on this. Malaak should be able to gain protection up during combat.
But then again if we read kits and expect them to work as written half of the game would need an update.
